Here are some of the companies with shares expected to trade actively in Friday's session. Stock movements noted by ticker reflect movements during regular trading hours; premarket trading is specified separately.
Inovio Pharmaceuticals -- up 10.9% premarket: The drugmaker, along with Moderna and Novavax, said Thursday that it planned to develop a vaccine against the new respiratory virus originating in China.
Intel -- up 4.8% premarket: Healthy demand for Intel's processors boosted sales for the company, according to its results, posted after markets closed Thursday. The chip maker benefited from a rise in personal-computer shipments and orders for chips to power data centers.
Broadcom -- up 4.7% premarket: The company said Thursday it had secured multiyear supply agreements with Apple Inc. to provide wireless components for Apple products into 2023.
Discover Financial Services -- down 6.9% premarket: The financial services firm reported results following market close Thursday.
American Express -- up 2.4% premarket: The credit-card company reported Friday that its fourth-quarter profit declined from a year ago but its revenue increased.
