World’s largest credit union and American Express partner to launch everyday rewards credit card

Navy Federal Credit Union and American Express (NYSE: AXP) announced today a new partnership that will result in a new rewards credit card for Navy Federal members: the Navy Federal More Rewards American Express® Card. This new credit card will be accepted on the American Express network and will be available Fall 2017.

“The More Rewards Card enhances our rewards card program overall,” said Matt Freeman, head of credit card products at Navy Federal Credit Union. “And, at the same time, we’re bringing real value to our members for the way they shop every day.”

Freeman explained the More Rewards Card will reward members for the everyday purchases they make most. The targeted launch date is in the fall, in time for members to earn rewards during the holiday shopping season.

“Navy Federal Credit Union is an outstanding organization, and one that shares our incredibly strong commitment to delivering exceptional customer value,” said Tessa Dooley, director of marketing and product development, Global Network Partnerships, North America, American Express. “We look forward to working closely with them to deliver compelling benefits, rewards and services to their very important members.”

When the Card is launched, Navy Federal members will be able to apply online, by calling the 24/7 contact center, or by visiting any of its 298 branch locations. The Card will be serviced by Navy Federal and accepted on the American Express global merchant network.

“With a simple, easy-to-understand rewards programs and superior service, this Card is an excellent complement to our host of rewards cards,” continued Freeman.

Navy Federal has ranked the highest for credit unions in customer service polls, including Forrester’s US Customer Experience Index and the American Customer Satisfaction Index (ASCI). Freeman said members would get that exact same service with this card and all of their cards.
