Allstate Corp. (ALL) on Wednesday unveiled broad changes to its management structure as the insurer looks to refocus its business model.
Leading the changes, Allstate said it promoted Matt Winter to chief executive of its life insurance business and president of the company, giving him oversight of the bulk of the insurer's businesses.
In his expanded position, Mr. Winter will fold Allstate's life insurance operations into its personal lines business, which the executive currently oversees. He will also continue to be in charge of the company's property-casualty business.
Don Civgin will head up Allstate's emerging businesses segment, which will serve areas such as business-to-business, Esurance, Answer Financial, annuities and the company's car initiatives. Like Mr. Winter, Mr. Civgin will report to Allstate CEO Thomas J. Wilson.
The changes--which also include the company's human resources operations as well as enterprise technology and strategic ventures--take effect Jan. 5.
