VAN BUREN TOWNSHIP, Mich., Aug. 27, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Global automotive supplier Visteon Corporation (NYSE: VC) has been awarded a 2012 Shingo Silver Medallion for operational excellence, in recognition of the performance of its Carolinas electronics plant in Chihuahua, Mexico.

The Shingo Silver Medallion is awarded to organizations that demonstrate the strong use of quality and lean manufacturing tools and techniques, have mature systems that drive improvement, and align their thinking and organizational behavior with correct principles of operational excellence. The Visteon plant in Chihuahua was rated highly for its manufacturing processes, environmental health and safety, quality, cost productivity, delivery, customer satisfaction and employee morale.
