ST. PETERSBURG, Fla., Aug. 28 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Smith & Nephew's (LSE:SN)(NYSE:SNN) Advanced Wound Management division announced today the appointment of Thomas Dugan as President, North American Business. Tom Dugan joins Smith & Nephew from SonoSite (NASDAQ:SONO), where he has served as the Senior Vice President, Global Marketing and US Sales for the last three years. Under his leadership, Sonosite focused its strategy on point-of-care visualization and posted record profits and revenues. Tom has 27 years of experience in the healthcare industry and has held senior positions in several leading businesses. After joining InterVascular, Inc., a subsidiary of Datascope Corporation in 2001, Tom served as President from 2002 to 2004. He also served as Vice President of Marketing for US Surgical Corporation, a division of Tyco Healthcare from 1999 to 2001, with responsibility for their Auto Suture and USS/D&G Suture businesses. From 1996 to 1999, he headed Business Development for US Surgical during a period of substantial corporate activity. Tom has also held management positions in sales, marketing and international with C.R. Bard and Puritan-Bennett. He began his career at Johnson & Johnson's Critikon division. Tom was a member of the Board of Directors of RITA Medical Systems, Inc. until its acquisition by AngioDynamics, Inc.
