Rivian Automotive has signed an agreement with Tesla that will provide its drivers access to Tesla's electric vehicle charging network across Canada and the U.S.
Rivian, a California-based electric vehicle maker and automotive technology company, said Tuesday that the agreement gives its drivers access to more than 12,000 Tesla Superchargers starting in 2024.
The company said it will incorporate the North American Charging Standard charge ports in its R1 vehicles starting in 2025 and in its upcoming R2 platform as well.
In the meantime, an adapter will be made available that will allow Rivian's R1T and R1S to charge on the Tesla network as early as spring of next year.
Rivian said the expansion of the charging network would help reduce greenhouse gas emissions in North America, and initiatives like this collaboration would help accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles.
