Q: For personal use on my home computer, I use Outlook and I have an iPhone 4S. I sync Outlook with my iPhone, but there appears to be no way to sync Outlook Tasks with Reminders on the iPhone. Is there a way to do this?

Michael Isaacs

A: If you use Microsoft's Exchange server for your email account, syncing your tasks with your iPhone's Reminders app is easy.

Go into the mail settings on your iPhone and turn on the reminders sync under your email account. It will automatically load up your Outlook tasks in the Reminders app.

If you don't have Exchange, you can use Apple's iCloud to sync your Outlook to-dos with Reminders. On a Windows PC, you'll want to download the iCloud Control Panel. Log in and there will be an option for syncing Reminders with Tasks.

If that doesn't work for you, you can use iCloud.com on your computer, click on Reminders and put your to-dos in there. They will now show up on your phone. Macs have a dedicated Reminders app.

However, I much prefer a third-party to-do list app called Wunderlist over Outlooks tasks. The beautifully designed, free app is available for the iPhone, iPad, Mac, Windows, Android and the Web. Create an account, start putting your list in and you'll be able to access it on all those devices. You can also create shared to-do lists with others.
