McDATA Corporation (Nasdaq:MCDTA)(Nasdaq:MCDT), a leading provider of
data access solutions, today announced a new version of their Network
Management Service (NMS 2.2) that has the ability to remotely monitor
and manage the ROC WDS Accelerator products. This release of NMS is
specifically designed to enhance the effectiveness of the WDS product
through continuous proactive monitoring of the appliances (including
hardware and application services), alerts and notifications, escalation
of critical fault conditions and overall event management.
Customers can trust the management of their WDS Accelerator systems to
McDATA’s 24x7x365 Network Operations Center
(NOC), which is fully integrated with McDATA’s
Technical Support Organization for problem resolution. This approach
reduces resolution times on average by more than 50 minutes which
reduces customer downtime costs. Real-time alerts warn administrators,
and McDATA technicians, of network issues or potential system outages. A
customer Web portal provides universal access for reporting and event
management analysis and online service requests submissions. NMS 2.2 for
McDATA’s WDS Accelerator monitors:
Connectivity and link failures
Application service and process failures
RAID, Disk, CPU and memory errors
Failover/bypass conditions
McDATA’s WDS Accelerators boost data and
application access so that customers can consolidate their branch office
IT resources and management to the data center, without compromising
real-time service levels for remote users. They also reduce recurring
costs, maximize data throughput and reduce backup windows by enabling
customers to send more data over existing WAN bandwidth. WDS Accelerator
is a part of McDATA’s ROC (Remote Office
Consolidation) offering, which includes a comprehensive set of hardware,
bandwidth, services and support necessary to centralize, move and
protect enterprise-wide data.
“Through constant monitoring from our 24x7
NOC, McDATA engineers proactively assure our customers’
data is always available for both corporate and remote users,”
said Rob Beyer, McDATA Senior Vice President of Customer Support
Services. “This release shows McDATA’s
commitment to moving customers into a more proactive support
relationship that will allow them to increase data availability while
reducing their overall costs associated with data management.”
