The jury deliberating over Oracle Corp.'s (ORCL) claims that Google Inc. (GOOG) infringed its copyrights failed to reach a verdict before the weekend, and is expected to reconvene on Monday.
Oracle sued Google in 2010, alleging that Google's Android mobile software infringes copyrights and patents that protect Oracle's Java technology.
The firms have been going head to head at the trial in San Francisco for weeks, and a verdict on the copyright portion of the case had been widely expected by Friday.
However, jurors informed Judge William Alsup they were unable to reach a conclusive verdict, and he instructed them to think it over during the weekend before resuming Monday.
The second, patent portion of the proceedings are likely to begin next week. That would be followed by a portion dedicated to assessing any damages Google may owe.
Oracle has said it plans to pursue Google for roughly $1 billion in damages, and may seek an injunction blocking the sale of devices with Android.
