Google has added a section on political advertising to its Transparency Report efforts, offering details on things such as top advertisers and keywords, and spending by state and congressional district.
Following up on earlier moves such as adding clear "paid for by" disclosures, the Alphabet Inc. (GOOG, GOOGL) unit said Wednesday that "we designed this report for anyone interested in transparency." Information will be updated weekly.
In a list of top advertisers in the current U.S. federal election cycle from May 31st onward, the top spender was Trump Make America Great Again Committee, followed by Planned Parenthood Federation of America Inc. and Rick Scott for Florida.
