Alphabet Inc.'s Google Cloud (GOOG) is teaming up with Intel Corp. (INTC) and Hewlett Packard Enterprise Co. (HPE) to help enterprise customers more easily deploy applications on-premise and via the cloud.
The Google Cloud and Intel will collaborate on Anthos, a new reference design that will deliver increased workload portability to customers who want hybrid cloud environments, the companies said Tuesday.
Intel will publish the production design as an Intel Select Solution, as well as a developer platform. HPE will offer two HPE validated designs for Google Cloud's Anthos.
The new Anthos reference design will deliver a stack optimized for workload portability, enabling deployment of applications across on-premise data centers and public cloud provider services.
"Data center environments today are complex, and hardware and software infrastructure is not 'one size fits all,'" Urs Hölzle, senior vice president of Technical Infrastructure at Google Cloud, said in prepared remarks. "Our ability to collaborate with Intel and take advantage of their technology and product innovation to deliver Anthos solutions ensures that our customers can run their applications in the way that best suits them."
Anthos will be delivered by mid-year 2019 with expected delivery from original equipment manufacturers and solutions integrators later this year.
