The U.K.'s Competition and Markets Authority has urged ticketing business StubHub to make changes to its website or face court action, after finding problems that could mean it is breaking consumer law.

The antitrust regulator said it has identified issues with the information provided about some tickets for sale in the U.K. via StubHub, which eBay Inc. (EBAY) is in the process of selling to Viagogo Entertainment Inc. Among other concerns, the CMA cited StubHub's failure to adequately warn people that tickets may not get them into an event and use of misleading messages about availability.

The CMA acknowledged that StubHub has already said it will make changes to its website, but urged the company to act swiftly as it is concerned that StubHub isn't complying with commitments it made following a previous investigation by the regulator.

StubHub said that it will continue to collaborate closely with regulators and that it has complied with everything that the CMA requested.

"We remain in open dialogue with the CMA to address both these new asks and any remaining valid concerns about disclosure of information on our site. We are working closely to resolve these as quickly as possible, and in the best interest of our customers, the fans," said Wayne Grierson, StubHub's regional manager for the U.K. and the northern Europe, Middle East and Africa region.

Late last year, eBay agreed to sell its ticketing business StubHub to Geneva-based Viagogo Entertainment for $4.05 billion.
