CME Group Inc. (CME) on Wednesday said Micro E-mini equity index futures volume passed 1 million contracts in less than three full days of trading, making it the group's most successful product launch ever.
The Micro E-Mini products track the S&P 500, Nasdaq-100, Russell 2000 and Dow Jones Industrial Average, CME said.
Micro E-mini equity index futures are one-tenth the size of CME's existing E-mini equity index futures, which are electronically traded futures contracts.
CME said the Micro E-mini requires less cash and allows traders to enter the market with lower margins.
