The Federal Trade Commission said Thursday it was revising a list of broadband companies from which it was seeking information on privacy practices.
The FTC said in March it would examine the privacy practices of broadband companies. At that time, it sent orders seeking information to AT&T Inc. (T), AT&T Mobility LLC, Comcast Cable Communications, Google Fiber Inc., T-Mobile US Inc. (TMUS), Verizon Communications Inc. (VZ) and Cellco Partnership.
On Thursday, the FTC said it withdrew the orders to AT&T Inc., and Verizon. However, it issued new orders to Appnexus, Inc., which is AT&T's advertising subsidiary, and two of Verizon's advertising subsidiaries, Verizon Online LLC and Oath Americas Inc. The FTC said it also sent a new request to Charter Communications Inc. (CHTR).
The FTC said it is seeking information practices including what personal information is collected by companies, how consumers can access, change or delete personal information, and information given to consumers about data collection practices.
