Richard Armitage, John Malkovich, Alfred Molina, Haley Joel Osment, Tatiana Maslany, Kate Mulgrew, Rose Leslie and David Tennant all among annual industry prize finalists
Audible.com’s two production arms, Audible Studios and ACX, received 24 nominations for the 2016 Audie Awards, which honor outstanding audiobooks and other spoken-word performances. Audible has finalists in twelve different categories. Winners will be announced by the Audio Publishers Association at the Audies Gala on May 11, 2016, in Chicago.
“We are thrilled that so many of our high-quality productions have been recognized this year,” said Audible EVP and Publisher Beth Anderson. “We are particularly proud that three Audible titles have been named as finalists in the “Original Work” category for the third year in a row. Four of our titles were named as finalists in the “Audio Drama” category. Both of these categories continue to offer rich opportunities for us to expand the range of listening experiences to deliver to our customers.”
Among the highlights of this year’s Audie finalists for Audible:
Audible invented and commercialized the first digital audio player in 1997, and has since been at the forefront of the explosively growing audiobook download segment. In 2015, listeners around the world downloaded 1.6 billion hours of audio from Audible.com outlets; Audible members downloaded an average of more than 17 books over the course of the year. Two thirds of new Audible members are first-time audiobook buyers. With Audible Studios and ACX, Audible.com is the largest producer of audiobooks in the world.
Audible is the preeminent provider of downloadable audiobooks to Apple’s iTunes store, which means that customers can access these finalists as well as tens of thousands of other premium audio titles at iTunes.
