Major U.S. airlines said they would suspend all flights to mainland China due to the spread of coronavirus, as the outbreak continues to weigh on global travel and commerce.
American Airlines Inc., Delta Air Lines Inc. and United Airlines Holdings Inc. all said Friday that they would suspend flights from the U.S. to China.
The World Health Organization declared the coronavirus outbreak a public-health emergency of international concern on Thursday and the U.S. State Department issued a travel advisory recommending citizens not travel to the country.
The three U.S. airlines join other international carriers, including British Airways and Indonesia's Lion Air, that have suspended flights to China.
American ended flights starting on Friday. Delta and United Airlines said they will stop flights next week, in order to accommodate customers planning to leave China. American and United said they plan to suspend flights to China through late March. Delta said its China flights would be suspended until April 30.
