Bloomberg reporting how BESS is really really helping California and Texas. Overcoming fear of outages is key in this country too. ( So how is Great British Energy doing on this?)

The fire safety should be their USP. I've never felt their marketing is strong enough to hammer this home... let's hope they've improved

The Moss Landing fire being described as a Three Mile Island moment for the (Lithium) battery energy storage sector and perhaps for renewable energy.

"This is really a lot more than a fire, it's a wake-up call for this industry," said Glenn Church, a member of Monterey county's board of supervisors, during a press conference. "If we're going to be moving forward with sustainable energy, we need a safe battery system in place." After the press conference on the morning of 17 January, the blaze flared up again that afternoon, leading to an extension of the evacuation order.

I see California lost 3 percent of its battery storage due to a fire. Yet another example why they should consider the alternative.A fire at the world's largest battery storage plant in California destroyed 300 megawatts of energy storage, forced 1200 area residents to evacuate and released smoke plumes that could pose a health threat to humans and wildlife. The incident knocked out 2 per cent of California's energy storage capacity, which the state relies on as part of its transition to use more renewable power and less fossil fuels.

On s positive note, Joe Biden has done something worthwhile in the closing days of his presidency. htTps://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025/jan/14/biden-trump-climate-change-funds?CMP=Share_iOSApp_OtherMost of this cannot be unpicked by the eejit trump. Interesting to see a significant portion will be spent on batteries One can hope

Smoke and mirrors.
If you have £10m in shares at 14p on issue and reduce the value of the share to 1p you still have £10m but you can then move that into another area of your accounts and call it something like 'share holders funds' you can then at some point in the future hand out that £10m to the share holders all legal and above board. Central banks call it creative banking and I think Ms Reeves will use something like it to fidle the accounts in the near future, then when Labour lose the next election they can say the moneys still there but called something else.
In this case you start with £57m in the bank and still have the same amount but called something else. In this instance it maybe they see a future for this company and will want a way to pay a dividend in say 2027 when they start making huge profits (i wish).
Before they did this little trick they would need to bank £57m into the share holders account before they even start to hand money out, see what i mean about wishful thinking.
If it sounds like a grubby deal, it has in the past been used by dodgy companies to rob the shareholders if no-one keeps an eye on the accounts. Not suggesting this is the case here Just think the company either knows something we dont or just planning ahead when the orders roll in.

RNS outThe Reduction of Capital will generate distributable reserves of £57,273,026.07 to support the payment of future dividends. The Company, however, does not plan on making dividend payments in the foreseeable future and there can be no assurance as to the level of future dividends. Is anyone able to explain this with some insight?
