26/4/2024 08:01 | Held back by bond yields and no sign of interest rate cuts. US looks still bubbly on inflation fears , so pulling down financials. Holding for the recovery start hopefully in Q3. I believe there is no risk in divi payment and medium term play remains positive IMHO | tornado12
25/4/2024 23:51 | Looks like we are in the wrong sector, mining seems be in vogue, with the bid for AA. | montyhedge
25/4/2024 21:58 | I guess so, Yump; but all may not be lost - Next month brings the 10th anniversary of Conchita Wurst winning Eurovision; perhaps we too shall 'Rise like a Phoenix' ! | lozzy2
25/4/2024 19:45 | '... erection is over SP's across many inherently sound companies on the FTSE-350 will see a rising share price ' erection ? rising ?; is your mind half somewhere else here MCunliffe 1 | lozzy2
25/4/2024 18:59 | That said, boxerdog4, I do empathise with your view. I'm a long-term holder of this and LGEN/BATS etc. but I'm not too keen on sacrificing share price for divi. I rather hope that as int. rates fall and the gen. erection is over SP's across many inherently sound companies on the FTSE-350 will see a rising share price Alternatively, I'm using LGEN and PHNX in particular as a substitute for an annuity and, after say 20 years, the share price is very low I will have had a greater divi income than the income from the same investment in an annuity. | mcunliffe1
25/4/2024 18:46 | I'm in one of those moods Spud. Getting close to bourbon time (7pm) and having had an entertaining day watching Angela van den Bogard struggling to come up wuth plausible yet non self-incriminating answers as to why she was clearly unable to do her job at the Post Office I'm feeling impish :-) | mcunliffe1
25/4/2024 17:54 | Couldn't resist could you MC? :))spud | spud
25/4/2024 17:32 | Another great opportunity to top up :-) | mcunliffe1
25/4/2024 17:15 | Dropped almost a quid in a few weeks but on the bright side holders have gained 26p, all this whilst the FTSE. powers ahead. I'd wager someone says another good opportunity to top up at these prices. | boxerdog4
25/4/2024 16:03 | Looks like 470p to 475p on its way. | montyhedge
25/4/2024 14:57 | Been a bloody expensive divi | scruff1
25/4/2024 14:31 | US sh*tting it's pants again.... | davethehorse

24/4/2024 17:26 | MCunliffe. I knew there must be something good about living in the UK. Lol | schofip

24/4/2024 16:19 | schofip - not in the US you haven't got a 50% chance. They have a ZERO and a DOUBLE-ZERO both fail irrespective of your Red or Black choice, your Even or Odd or 1-18 or 19-36 choice. Europe only have one zero so slightly better to play in Europe. | mcunliffe1
24/4/2024 16:12 | If the FTSE 100 falls big time, the good, bad and ugly all get hit. | montyhedge
24/4/2024 16:09 | You are better off on a roulette table. At least you have a 50% chance of success. | schofip
24/4/2024 15:37 | The US 10 Year Treasury yield is hitting 4.66%. The market sets longer duration bond prices and the market currently wants higher compensation (yield) for the perceived risk going forward. It's instructive to keep an eye on this rate if it edges nearer to 5%, it signals stress in the debt market. This is not positive for stocks, high yielders tend to drop in price when interest rates rise, to compensate for higher yields in bonds. It's already looking more doubtful that the US will cut rates this year, although the Federal Reserve has cornered itself so it's damned if it does and damned if it doesn't. This will probably weigh heavily on stocks like PHNX. On the other hand it makes PHNX cheap to buy... | cassini
24/4/2024 14:45 | The rise of the past couple of days is rapidly being eroded. I was sucked into believing this would break through 500p, but it's not going to yet. | mylands
24/4/2024 14:42 | Only sold 25% of my Phoenix to go into Bats, just to get an extra dividend in with Bats.Of course if FTSE 100 as a downturn, if the old adage sell in May comes right this year, everything gets hit, the good, bad and ugly. | montyhedge
24/4/2024 11:57 | Monty Agree re BATS - i bought in when it dropped sub-£23. Far too few FTSE100 stocks are fairly rated | porous lover
24/4/2024 09:50 | I took the reverse view (as an experiment) - I bought some ex-dividend as someone worked out the percentages... Its just over 50% chance that you make more money buying ex-dividend compared to before ex-dividend. | netcurtains |
