Very good results.Over the pond, Chipotle has amassed a market cap of over $ 80 billion with a growth rate exceeding expectations, all of this in a very little amount of time.MEX has a guiding light

Out at 58 having bought in at 40. Wish i'd purchased a bit more at the initial entry. GL to all existing holders. Only reason im selling is I need the capital to top up an existing position.

This appears to have a bit of momentum with both Hanover and Luke J buying in recently.

You are right but Chipotle will go pan UK and it is just a question of time. Wahaca do fast food burritos from food trucks like in South Bank alongside their main restaurants, which are competitive

I am basing my ordering off my own tastes so there is that!

Johnson, whose Risk Capital Partners firm backs the likes of All Star Lanes and Brighton Pier Group, acquired 1.4m shares in the group this morning.

The move gives Johnson a 3.62% stake in the business and makes him around the 10th largest shareholder in the company.

As a publicly listed firm Tortilla does not comment on individual investors but it is understood the move is seen as a positive for the business.

--------

Chipotle only have outlets in London. Pretty sure my burrito will be cold by the time it reaches Cheltenham. Wahaca is more of a proper sit down sort of place rather than fast food.

Chipotle will crush Tortilla. Sorry all. Tortilla's product just is not good enough and no point buying a weakly capitalised number 3 in the cuisine range

Order of best

Chipotle > Wahaca > Tortilla

Posted on the LSE forum, massive respect to jon1234Luke Johnson just bought 1.4m shares (3.6% of the company). He took control of Pizza Express in the 90's and grew the share price 20x before selling the business. He's been involved with The Ivy, Strada, Giraffe, Gail's and more. The guy has a proven track record of successfully buying and selling restaurant businesses for decades. With the recent CEO departure, there has to be takeover noises in the city. By far the largest mexican casual dining chain in the UK and valued at sub $20m. Peanuts compared to Chipotle Mexican Grill stock in the US at $70bn valuation.

Dr. I took my daughter into Birmingham around October to look at the retailers and to try MEX in Grand Central. It's a prime location but no better than McDonalds visually. I thought the prices were high for Birmingham but I am a bit of a tight git.
The menu was as expected and the portions decent. To big for a light lunch so we ended up eating at Comptoir Libanais (Lebanese) which was opposite and also a listed restaurant (Comptoir Group PLC).
I have been watching MEX for a year as others on ADVFN thought the branches in the SE were always busy. Restaurants are having a tough time with higher costs. At some point the tide will turn and big brands will be looking for new formulas like MEX and COM to fill the empty high street locations.

Yes. Apparently some of the outlets were supposedly selling in the region £500 of cakes per hour, and he never thought this suspicious. Whilst writing a column about spotting fraud.

But under him shares in Pizza Express went from 40p to 900p. He has a very good record, but mixed with a few failures. Given his multiple directorships I'd doubt he'd get too hands on, but it makes it a more interesting journey

Yes, I was in Belfast recently (that looked new and busy) and also at Bristol Airport where it was moderately busy. Not really my sort of food tbh so didn't eat there.

Have you been?

Even with my top up it ranks 31/35 of my total. Just hope johnson wants some involvement

There must be other buyers as Luke Johnson declared 1.4m and the volume yesterday was a lot higher.
Volumes yesterday. ADVFN say 7.35m Yahoo say 4.57m
