No, that was mine. Buy back is capped to 161.7p as per the rules on 5% above previous 5 day mid price average.

Thanks rivaldo - all grist to the mill :)

From today's trades, it looks from the 25k @ 164p as though the buyback price could be increasing nicely.

Looks like ZYT have been tipped by Malcolm Stacey this morning (subscriber-only):

"I'm with Steve and Tom, Zytronic Is Set to Touch a Glittering Future.

By Malcolm Stacey | Wednesday 23 March 2022

Hello Share Shufflers. Uncle Tom and Steve write appreciably about the touch sensor king Zytronic (ZYT). And I thought I’d like to support their enthusiasm. In an age when many more of us rely on digital gizmos, there can be little doubt that touch screens are more and more essential to those folks seeking an easier life

etc"

Good spot c1d, I suspect you're right, which would be good news.

I wonder if Woodland Investment Trust have now sold their entire stake back to the company.
The holding notification on 25 Feb disclosed a holding of 315,000 shares as at 23 Feb and the company has bought back 478,000 share since then.

Another 125,000 shares bought back at 152,5p:

Hard to believe given ZYT's prospects, cash backing, microcap size and illiquidity that there are still such large sellers left. There can't be many more after the 100k on Friday too.

Good to see the after hours RNS on Friday advising the buyback of 100k shares @ 155p, the second time in 4 days.

A nice combination of the highest daily volumes at the highest prices since the buyback began.

Looking back at recent announcements I think JAC Walter may be the largest with 3%

gdjs100 - thank you for that.

FWIW for 22 H1 I have revenue of 5.98m (up 25%) pbt of 670k and eps of 4.8p (on 11.42m shares).

Very similar. But much will come down to the order mix and resulting margins I suspect - so I don't put much faith in my figures. I like to have an estimate - if only to see how far off I am,

cheers

With the exception of 2020 (for obvious reasons), H2 is always stronger than H1. The last time H1 was stronger before that was 2012.I have PBT down slightly this half (for the reasons you mention), but EPS up due to fewer shares in issue (4.4p for 22H1 vs 4.2p 21H2 on my numbers).

How hard did they really try to get those financial services contracts?

Woodland reduced recently to under 3%.

My main concern was the update talked of the first 5 months revenues being 25% up “year-on-year” yet the finals in December talked of a 44% improvement in turnover in the second half compared to the first half. That suggests to me that revenues in the current first half will be less than those of the second half of last year. Have I misinterpreted?

Based on this, I have reduced my position somewhat as I have other investments that seem to promise more growth.

The top five significant shareholdings all look like PIs aggregated under various guises.

So that just leaves Woodland.

@she-ra
That's an interesting hypothesis

Significant shareholding at 30 Nov 2021 per the website

Interactive Investor Trading 1,722,330 15.08%
Hargreaves Lansdown PLC 1,558,049 13.64%
Private Stakeholders (UK) 722,538 6.33%
Barclays Bank 636,882 5.58%
A J Bell Group 462,231 4.05%

Woodland Investment Management 460,000 4.03%

About 50% of company owned (probably) mainly by private investors and their pension/ISA accounts.

Would be hard to organise a united opposition should an MBO/MBI (funded by an offshore PE?) be sprung.

I hope you are wrong.

I'm starting to wonder if we are all being had.It seems the broker isn't attempting to push up the price. Was this share buyback initiated for a cheap MBO down the line? I mean why not a special dividend? Of course the CEO has very little skin in the game so that wouldn't benefit him too much. But a share buyback getting rid of institutional shareholders that potentially could block or demand a higher price. Is that the plan?

Less shares and no institutional shareholders makes for a cheap takeover.

If there was a overhang we would see it. What's odd is the fact that they are not buying back any shares or seemingly trying to. The broker could nudge the offer up to 150 and see if it generates any sales. Just sitting there with no volume is bizarre. If you want the shares you have to make some effort!

Despite the huge liquidity since Feb from the share buyback authority, shares haven't really moved much. Looking like there's some overhang perhaps? It's pretty stunning, the average daily volumes now vs before.

Mr5k they gave out a trading update less than two weeks ago that outlined continued progress. What do you want a daily update from Zytronic? I'm afraid PLCs don't do this.

Underlying share price strength seems to have been firming this morning - hardly anything available to buy all morning (currently 15 shares online) and can now sell at least 15k which is more than was possible earlier and for a slightly firming price of 148.1p.

Hopefully the start of an upwards move although no trades reported as yet.

As regards my post above, there's a much more informative article about the Innolux contract here. I like in particular this paragraph:

"With this new surface touch and tactility capability, Innolux were proud to receive a Gold Award at the Touch Taiwan 2021 exhibition. The company considers that control panels are the main application area for this technology, for example, in medical applications where the operator wants to increase or decrease the gain of the scanner. Medical imaging is another example; using machined dials or ‘joggle wheels‘ to maintain the rotational movement of the function allows the user to take their eyes off the control panel and look at the image on the main display.

Mixing and lighting desks can also benefit from joggle wheels and sliders to add position and tactile feedback areas. They can also be used on CCTV control panel systems to control the remote camera zoom in/out function or on casino games to allow players to intuitively control the console functions on a virtual button deck while focusing their eyes on the main, upright screen before them."

Innolux are huge - they have 56,000 employees:

Interesting - thanks Rivaldo.

Just on the stock side.
Last week I could not sell (though I had no intention of doing so) even 2.500 shares without going to the market. I could also buy 25,000 shares easily within the spread.

As of today I can sell in 50,000 lumps at 1.46 but if I want to buy 5,000 it is 1.545 or 15,000 it is 1.56.

FWIW.
