looks well funded to me:

the 51% shareholder (mbth) has opened its purse twice already (tranches of 10 + 15 million):
rns 18.7.11 says:

- received convertible shareholder loan facility commitments totaling $10 million from MB Technology Holdings, LLC ("MBTH"), which has become the parent company of xG. Of the $10 million in commitments, $5,200,000 was used to repay the original convertible shareholder loans, and the balance was used to assist the Company with its working capital, to fund additional planned trials of its xMax cognitive radio network system and to continue development along the Company's Technology Roadmap. The convertible shareholder loan was subsequently converted into equity at $0.25 per new share, resulting in the issue of 40 million new xG shares to MBTH. Following the issue of the new shares, MBTH holds a total of 100,398,372 shares in the Company, representing 51.68% of xG's enlarged issued and outstanding share capital.

- received the commitment of a new convertible shareholder loan facility up to $15 million from MBTH.

The Army is exploring that possibility by reviewing three new wireless technologies -- one called Monax from Lockheed Martin, another from Oceus Networks (partnering with Northrop Grumman), and third, the "cognitive radio" gear from xG Technology.

McCarthy says Army technical analysts supervising the tests have been encouraged by what they've seen with xG's "cognitive radio" gear which enables "frequency hopping" by continually searching for unused frequency spectrum, a technique that McCarthy says appears to reduce interference problems. The xG equipment provides voice and data, supporting approximately 4MB for each smartphone user, though it is dependent on the number of users and the distance from a base station.

"Our target going forward is to hit 35 kilometers from the base station," says McCarthy about the Army's ideas for how it might set up a network of portable base stations on the go. The Army would like to be able to transport wireless radio base station equipment of some type to wherever it's needed, quickly setting up and tearing down a network for smartphones for assigned military frequencies.

The Army appears to be the first among the U.S. military services to take this much interest in using smartphones, though the Air Force and Navy are motivated as well, says McCarthy. He adds U.S. allies, such as NATO partners, also have "significant interest."

today's rns

xG has deployed a 32 square mile xMax network in Fort Lauderdale, Florida to showcase its cognitive radio, mobile VoIP, and dynamic interference mitigation capabilities. The Company's xMax products are also being tested and trialed by the US Army at two of its US bases. Based in the USA, xG Technology has over 50 US and more than 100 international patents and pending patent applications.

That is old news and has no credibility - the guy keeps posting rubbish on iii. If you look at the appointments that the company has made over the past 6-12 months i think it shows that this is not a scam but a proper company. the people they have involved would have done a lot of research before joining.

Finals (out today) look ok to me

On outlook, Richard Mooers, Executive Chairman, and John Coleman, Chief Executive Officer stated:

"The contract wins realized in 2010 are validation of the applicability of our technology in the key military vertical market. Having established itself as a leading provider of cognitive wireless technology, xG is well-placed to capitalise on trends that are driving the industry today. We are convinced that the Company is in an excellent position to build on the accomplishments of the past year and derive additional value from our intellectual property and growing market presence. We look forward to reporting to our shareholders on our progress and achievements over the next year and beyond."

A contrary view Might be worth a bit of research before investing, although the technology could be a nice little earner.

Army field evaluations to include battle phones
Joint Battle Command-Platform part of upcoming Network Evaluation Integration

By Defense Systems Staff

May 24 2011

The Army plans to put its prototype operating system of a smart phone known as the Joint Battle Command-Platform to test during the upcoming Network Evaluation Integration at White Sands Missile Range, N.M., reports Paul McLeary at Aviation Week's Ares Blog.

The Army's Evaluation Task Force (2nd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division) received its smart phones, which run on the Android operating system, and base stations in April from wireless communications company xG Technology Inc.

The system is capable of searching for up to six frequencies with which to transmit information and, if the signal strength is lost, it is capable of switching without interruption to stronger frequencies.

Army to field-test cognitive radios at NIE
Technology might eliminate need to manually set frequencies during fast-paced operations

By Henry Kenyon
Jun 06, 2011

A prototype radio technology might make military bandwidth allocation issues a thing of the past. Known as cognitive radio, it uses a set of algorithms to scan the spectrum for empty spots to transmit into. These smart handsets would allow warfighters to communicate in crowded radio environments without having to manually preset their equipment to specific frequencies.

Developed by xG Technology Inc., the cognitive radio system, known as xMax is undergoing evaluation by the Army during its Network Integration Exercises under way at Fort Bliss, Texas, and nearby White Sands Missile Range, N.M.

my broker answered my question:

XGTU is XG Technology Incorporated, this is a listed stock that is American and trades on the AIM market; it is not a warrant or a sub share of another stock. XGT doesn't settle in CREST so we don't trade that line of stock, however, XGTU does settle in CREST so we can deal that line of stock. It is the same company just slightly different as one settles in CREST and the other doesn't.
