xgtu gone blue

In the spring, the military plans to expand its tests to include several hundred different phones in a limited geographic area, McCarthy said.

"I'm going to push that system as far as we can push it, because I want to know the limitations," he said. "We're doing the same for all of the systems that we're looking at, but this system - if it proves out during our evaluation - is a potential game changer, in terms of how we can use smartphones on the battlefield."

McCarthy said he considers the xG Technology system and other solutions being tested by the military to be "complementary" to the military's own development of advanced communications that leverage cognitive radio and other information-assurance techniques. It is possible that the U.S. Army could make decision on at least some of these technologies soon, so the solutions could be used by soldiers on battlefields as early as next year, he said.

"Instead of being years away on that, I think we're closer to months away to having a viable solution," McCarthy said.

progress report

In each of the three meetings and as a result of the xMax performance to date, the Army outlined a strong desire for continued work with xG in both laboratory and field environments. CERDEC representatives expressed interest in the establishment of a Cooperative Research and Development Agreement (CRADA) with xG to explore adapting the current xMax system to operate in military controlled spectrum. The BMC and SIG COE representatives both endorsed the continued work with CERDEC in the labs and also advocated continued participation in the semi-annual Network Integration Exercise (NIE) series in the deserts of Fort Bliss.

xMax Cognitive Radio Technology to be Evaluated for Delivery of Wireless Broadband, Mobile Voice and Data

SARASOTA, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- xG Technology, Inc. (LSE-AIM: XGT, "xG" or the "Company"), the developer of a broad portfolio of wireless communications technology, including cognitive radio networks, is pleased to announce that it has signed Memoranda of Understanding ("MOU") with eight separate independent local carriers ("ILEC's") to evaluate the roll out of xMax wireless services in their respective territories. xMax will provide these independent carriers an all-IP, single network solution for voice (VoIP), video, text and broadband data for mobile and fixed applications. The MOUs have been signed with the following companies:

Redi-Call Communications Company, a Delaware-based wireless carrier;
TelAtlantic Communications, Inc., a Virginia-based holding company of incumbent local exchange carriers;
Cook Telecom, Inc., a California-based wireless carrier;
Silver Star Telephone Company, inc., a Wyoming-based incumbent local exchange carrier;
Venture Communications Cooperative, a South-Dakota-based incumbent local exchange carrier;
Townes Tele-Communications, Inc., a Texas-based holding company of incumbent local exchange carriers;
Smart City Telecom, a Florida-based incumbent local exchange carrier;
Public Service Cellular, Inc., a Georgia-based telecommunications company

These carriers collectively see xMax as a promising solution to several challenges they face, including policy changes being considered to support rural broadband deployment. Numbering over 1300, independent carriers are increasingly seeking wireless options to expand communication services to their customers across the United States. The potential adoption of xG's patented technologies will ensure that independent telephone company customers continue to receive a broad array of telecommunications services including the rollout of new broadband services and other compelling wireless mobile solutions.

my broker answered my question:

XGTU is XG Technology Incorporated, this is a listed stock that is American and trades on the AIM market; it is not a warrant or a sub share of another stock. XGT doesn't settle in CREST so we don't trade that line of stock, however, XGTU does settle in CREST so we can deal that line of stock. It is the same company just slightly different as one settles in CREST and the other doesn't.
