Is the rest of the market in tatters? |
Poor results and outlook. Cash position not great either. Amazed how the valuation stays so high vs the rest of the market that is in tatters. |
Devoid of lustre at the moment. |
Someone building a stake? 8%up today, great move in past 3 weeks |
OIT useful update re XAR 180124 |
I bought some at 20.5p in March 2020 when they were a net net. They have burnt through more of the cash by now, though, so the equivalent today would be buying below 5p/share. |
From memory, the 2020 pandemic low was much lower around 40p |
Minefield with a lot of these stocks that have trap door falls, no rush, it’s going to be a very challenging year. I haven’t looked at their finance but you certainly need to be well funded this year and not need to raise. |
For now, share valuation suggests that may be temporary! |
Xaar seems to have very favourable sentiment towards it and strong support from investors. |
Short term is still: "The Board anticipates that weaker demand during Q4 2023 will continue into 2024, and together with delays in some customer product launches, will result in lower revenue and adjusted profit in 2024 than previously anticipated. We are optimistic and remain focused on delivering significant opportunities in our customer pipeline. -- In 2024 the Group also faces the full effect of increased input costs. The lower than previously expected revenue growth in 2024 will not be sufficient to fully absorb the additional costs, which will impact Gross Margin."
XAR was priced for better so any more setbacks will hurt. Risk/reward does not look good at the moment. |
After today's update these will start to drift upwards again. Cash good, in line trading and all the opportunities still present and up for grabs. |
A pe of 33 seems very high for a company with sluggish growth. |
Shes ready to go boys. |
and there you know it now
top up time |
Hot chart lookin a bit bowly to me |

Added a few of these beauties |
But that's 30-odd years to wait ! |
Might be worth looking again at these in the mid-fifties |
I never understood how the price held up for so long. The balance sheet doesn't look good either. Profit warnings come in threes so I am staying on the sidelines. |
If there had not been better opportunities elsewhere, I would of probably of bought below 170 for a 20% bounce or for a multi year holding. This weeks trading update is a shocking turn around in the 2024 prospects. Progressive research have cut their 2024 full year PBT from 4.2m to 0.4m. It's a must read for any small investor or anybody looking at XAAR:
With little prospect of a turn around in outlook for 6 months, then some holders are likely to sell and who is going to buy at the current price. XAAR may become a target of short sellers given its high valuation.
I still like the medium/long term XAAR story but now expect to see a better entry point in the future. I hold no long or short position in XAR |
Shocking profits warning and the obvious trap door moment I nearly bought back in January, got lucky really, so many what looked like solid mid caps are starting to get hammered.
Stagnation/recession next year, I will start shorting market after his Santa rally is over, it’s definitely going to be a challenging year imo |
simmsc that's what I was alluding too, the stock is offered cheaper by market makers but it looks like someone has set up an algorithm to take the book at the offer price in small numbers, I can only think it is to keep the price high but its all guess work. |
