18/2/2013 21:10 | AGAP is quoted in sterling...which i hav used b4 ...cant c the one you quoted AGPP | badtime
18/2/2013 21:04 | Agap is USD line I think. Is there any advantage buying agap? More liquid? All us$ exposure anyway but easier for me to monitor performance if priced in Sterling. | deepvalueinvestor
18/2/2013 20:45 | You sure thats not AGAP? | badtime
18/2/2013 20:02 | After careful consideration, I am going for etf grains (aggp is sterling priced) with soya beans, corn and wheat rather than just wheat. This just spreads the risk and the chart looks a bit more encouraging. I didn't deal today as us market is closed and the spreads a bit wide. I can sleep better at night with this slightly more diversified play and it also means that I can go for a slightly more meaningful weighting. | deepvalueinvestor
17/2/2013 09:02 | Just to confirm, buying a wheat etf is not as good as buying wheat due to the cost of carry. This means that the etf could underperform any rise in the wheat price. In my case, I can see no other option but I would certainly look to trim or sell outright into any spike. In short, not a long term investment but hopefully a trading opportunity over say, 3 years max. If you are investing a reasonable chunk then speak to a wheat trader and buy the Paris November future contracts (or something similar) or buy some wheat and put it in storage. Only time will tell if buying at this level will work but with bond and equity markets looking unappealing, I am forced to think laterally to seek returns. | deepvalueinvestor
17/2/2013 08:34 | well done to all of those of you that called it short back in Jan. Looking at buying this etf, I'm guessing wheat will surprise us by nit returning to the long term support. If nothing else it looks too obvious for the time being. | tong chai
15/2/2013 18:21 | Indeed I got the green from my contact and intend to buy a chunk on Monday. | deepvalueinvestor
15/2/2013 12:17 | Thanks for posting that SKYSHIP, much appreciated. A buy could be nearer than we think. Wheat Advances as Price Drop Stokes Demand for U.S. Supplies | contrarian2investor
14/2/2013 20:35 | DVI, I am not so certain we'll get there. However the lower the better to LONG gains. I will consider buying if/when Wheat has its next full 6 hours of gains. EDIT Anyone watching the Fibonacci levels from last year? | contrarian2investor
14/2/2013 19:14 | I am waiting to buy at the support level. | deepvalueinvestor
14/2/2013 09:09 | Posted this on the SHA thread yesterday, saying that the indicators don't suggest yet oversold - so we could well see that 1.55/1.60 floor again: | skyship
14/2/2013 09:01 | Got a signal on my system to short wheat so I'm buying the inverse daily ETF SWEA:-) I've listed all the grains on the ETF v Futures BB | praipus
27/1/2013 09:50 | Ha thanks Brando. Interestingly Mark Faber (Dr Doom) thinks we are on the right track to be looking at soft commodities but doesn't plan to invest due to the cost of carry and volatility. This is exactly the problem but it doesn't mean that I won't jump in if I think money can be made on a one year view. Wheat or Corn ETFs are really trading opportunities rather than investments though. | deepvalueinvestor
27/1/2013 09:17 | i think what you're saying deepvalueinvestor, is that you prefer to sort the wheat from the chaff... | brando69
26/1/2013 22:26 | True praipus but I don't want the other commodities. I am going to watch wheat a bit longer to see if It can find some support. | deepvalueinvestor
22/1/2013 11:39 | Also have you thought abour CED2 (if you are thinking long) you could by your WEAT at a discount:-) | praipus
22/1/2013 10:22 | There is an inverse ETF for Weat (SWEA) I've listed it and the other grains and commodity ETF's on the following thread: | praipus
21/1/2013 20:09 | Very funny Brando. Upwards momentum continues. You might be right badtime. | deepvalueinvestor
21/1/2013 12:17 | deep value, where did you meet him? when you were on the way to the fair? | brando69
21/1/2013 12:15 | Might take a nibble | badtime
20/1/2013 19:44 | Despite a rally this week, I met a wheat trader and he felt the trend was still downwards so I am going to just watch for now. | deepvalueinvestor
14/1/2013 19:35 | Amused to see a 4% rally when I start to think about accumulating! | deepvalueinvestor
13/1/2013 11:37 | DVI Herewith the link to the ETF WEAT factsheet: Personally I'm watching and waiting as WEAT could well run all the way back to its historical support some 10% lower down... | skyship |
