23/10/2013 14:31 | This article a month old and no doubt posted before but worth a reminder. Wildhorse Energy (LON:WHE) plans to remain focused on advancing its primary Hungarian interests, comprising the Mecsek Hills underground coal gasification and uranium projects. Following the Hungarian government's study into underground coal gasification (UCG), the key findings of which were published in April, the company is waiting for Parliamentary approval of amendments to existing legislation to allow for the licensing of UCG. Approval is expected shortly. In keeping with most junior companies in the natural resources sector, the development of Wildhorse's assets will require more money than the company currently has, but the explorer is mulling a plan to lower initial capital requirements for the Mecsek Hills UCG project by using a phase development approach. The first phase would comprise the development of the underground gas production facility and the second phase, the above ground gas processing, gas clean up and gas turbine facilities. It is the second phase that will soak up the bulk of the projected development costs, but the company hopes that by demonstrating critical aspects of UCG in the first phase it will make it easier to raise capital for the second phase. The UCG venture is the most advanced of the company's projects, but it is also making progress with the development of its uranium asset, where the Hungarian government has given its official blessing for the development of a joint venture (JV) between Wildhorse, the state-owned Mecsek-Öko and Hungarian Electricity, the owner of Paks Nuclear Power Plant. The JV will evaluate the necessary conditions to restart uranium mining, and the company has been working actively on this since June 2012. As a pre-revenue company, Wildhorse (WHE) is loss making, but losses at the pre-tax level narrowed, to A$7.84mln, from A$11.9mln the year before. "I believe that WHE has made significant strides in fulfilling its stated strategy of developing alternative fuel and energy sources in CEE [Central & Eastern Europe]. However, in order to execute our plans to advance our key interests, we are dependent on the availability of appropriate financing," stated company chairman Mark Hohnen. "The international capital markets are beginning to recover but funding for large capex and uranium projects remains difficult. We have been actively engaging with a number of parties to secure a partner and subsequently the development blue print of our asset base. We remain committed to this process as it is crucial to our plans going forward," he added. | loverat | |
