Posted at 24/7/2012 08:22 by tpaulbeaumont THE INTELLIGENT INVESTOR July 21, 2012Why We're Driven to Trade With computerized traders that "hold" stocks for only a few seconds at a time and markets that can swing wildly in a matter of moments, long-term investing seems to be on the verge of extinction. Perhaps this is inevitable. It turns out that short-term thinking is deeply embedded in the workings of the human brain. New research suggests that in order to avoid trading your accounts to death, you must counteract some of the very tendencies that make Homo sapiens the most intelligent of all species. |
Posted at 07/1/2010 17:15 by gisjob2 Regardless of what the document says (I can't be assed to read it)Small shareholders always loose out in situations like these ! Even when straight consolidations happen, it's almost always negative for private investors ! |
Posted at 30/12/2009 12:28 by gisjob2 Restructuring = screwing small investors |
Posted at 30/12/2009 12:25 by gisjob2 Investors often lose big time when consolidations take place too ! |
Posted at 29/12/2009 11:54 by daniel Rouge company with absolutely no regard for investors. After consolidation of 1 new share for 10 existing shares on aim, shareprice more likely to fall |
Posted at 14/12/2009 13:38 by deanroberthunt this will continue to fall as everyone holding this in an ISA wrapper, either fundies or private investors will have to sell.deal with facts |
Posted at 20/11/2009 13:17 by andrbea White Young Green (WHY, 10.5p, £5.56m) Start of the new financial year from 1st July to 18 November has been in-line with management expectations. The group has also agreed the re-financing and will put the proposals to investors soon. We maintain the HOLD recommendation until the impact of the refinancing is known. |
Posted at 13/11/2009 19:53 by knock27 Chrisjg - what a breath of fresh air - understand why you remain out, agree that it will be a long haul, but welcome your good wishes to holders and staff in which categories I qualify. Not many investors think beyond their bottom line!Your summation is correct - "they have a solid reputation to deliver a quality service" and there are still many gifted and exceptionally qualified/experience |
Posted at 13/11/2009 05:58 by chrisjg tonester - perhaps not market leader but IMO they have a solid reputation to deliver a quality service. An article in the NCE suggests a down sizing and reduced turnover over the next few years and a delisting to the aim.I certainly hope they make it and think they will but it will be a very long hall for investors. I remain out and will perhaps only buy back in once all becomes much clearer. all the best to the holders and those working for WYG Chrisjg |
Posted at 01/10/2009 08:17 by d23m Sell out. I remain close to the company. WHY find it increasingly difficult to buy in work at the moment even at a loss to keep existing employees busy. Clients are concerned about the firms financial position. Turnover might be high, but profit is sanity, turnover vanity! I would expect T/O & profits to be weaker moving fwd. The writing is on the wall for investors. Material Dilution to existing shareholders. Dont be sucked in. As noted above, these will be 1p. |
