27Ben, yep difficult to guess what PG is up to and I've been burnt too many times to follow him.

He contributed a section to Guy Thomas's book "Free Capital" which is quite revealing he's not scared of going bust (twice I believe) and he's still at it so I occasionally follow but on a small size speculative basis. I like the technology element to his focus.

Marlborough Fund Managers and Hargreave Hale?

From what I can see they are passive investors of other peoples money via "Unit Trusts". Great job for them but as far as I can tell they are not specifically arbitrageurs, activist, or systematic value investors. (Even though there are a number of common holdings).

So my issue is that our interests (i.e. the Private Investor PI and the fund manager) arent aligned. I believe they want to increse funds under management first and take your fees before growing the assets. Perhaps this is too cynical and I would be willing to listen to the counter argument.

Hi Marben - I dont think prefs will be repaid on time. I do think they will be repaid - hence me rolling them on.

In addition - I am not trying to forecast what will happen - model is just to see - if x happens what will the impact on the prefs be...

Praipus - you may be right on weiss - my figures are from 2013 annual report so may be out of date.

Re PCA/Slater: worth noting that they've actually ADDED 43% to the
number of shares held (from 402,500 to 572,500) in PCA's recent
placing, but this was slightly outweighed by the increase in shares
in issue from 12.52m to 20.08m, hence creeping down slightly
through the 3% level.

I added 200% to my holding of PCA in the placing. It's now my
largest holding as a result. :0) After lots of value creation in
the last FY, plenty of opportunity for more of the same from
further active management of both the old Sequel portfolio and the
new PIH one... and regular divvies expected from the rental income.
And all this with only modest debt.
