21/10/2009 09:52 | Some of the truth at last screwed in two projects due to bad managment ie new system useless etc. etc. Bomboko appears no further on during last 3 months. Larger plant still not in production, smaller plant should have produced diamonds for sale by now, I expect locals to take this over soon. As to expansionwith by aquisition, what with another fund raiser, or payment by issuing more shares, I don't think so, who would want shares in this company. Offering shares as payment is probably why previous efforts have failed. I have given up and sold out. Best of luck to those remaining stalwarts, there are better prospects elsewhere. | stromboli

21/10/2009 07:15 | V.interesting from JT "Therefore, the future strategy for WAD is to grow by mergers and acquisition, while continuing to develop our own reserves. Toward that end, we were in discussions with a number of other companies. These early discussions came to nothing. However, discussions of this nature continue and I am hopeful that a good result will come from these talks. If positive, it would be a step toward building an independent gem quality diamond producer, founded and focussed in developing high grade and high value diamond resources in West Africa." | richard collins

Mines Minister Mahmoud Thiam said that the Chinese company "will be a strategic partner in all mining projects." Thiam also said that new power-generating plants, railway links, and planes for both international and local air transportation are part of the deal | father o toole
19/10/2009 09:36 | 5% of something most people thought was a gonner is not bad, add that to the other 20% free carry in SL and its not a bad wee sideline for a sub £3m valued diamond company. | father o toole
19/10/2009 09:14 | I suppose if you can't beat the locals join em but 5% indicates that the locals have the upper hand. Will this "locals" victory be mirrored elsewhere. | stromboli
19/10/2009 08:19 | 16th October 2009 Plant 11 in Koidu, Sierra Leone, to reopen under new management The directors of West African Diamonds (WAD), the AIM listed diamond miner, are pleased to announce an agreement with Pyramid Resources, a private Sierra Leone company, to reopen the Plant 11 tailings project near Koidu. Pyramid, formed by local WAD advisers and management, has taken over the Mining Lease and certain plant and equipment. They will focus on recovering diamonds contained in the 7 million ton diamond tailing dump. WAD has a 5% royalty on production. John Teeling, Chairman, commented: "I am delighted with this development and I wish it every success. The WAD project on Plant 11 focused on gold and diamond recovery using a new technology. The new owners will concentrate on recovering diamonds followed by gold recovery. This initiative is good for all, our former workers who get jobs, the local area which gets income, and the State which will get revenue and exports". At least we get something!!!! | currypasty
