03/1/2010 12:59 | my understanding is that the newcastle factory is now in the process of finnishing outstanding projects and will be effectively mothballed until further notice... a move into providing cables for the very exciting offshore wind farm developments could be a real option for WSM since there is very limited scope for pipe contracts in the northern hemisphere in the near future (offshore greenland in 5 years may be a possibility) i wonder if we will see WSM take the opportunity and a change of strategy soon? "Council leader John Shipley, said: "I am very disappointed by the news of around 180 job losses at Wellstream. We will offer all the support we can to members of staff affected. "We are pleased that Wellstream remains committed to staying in Newcastle, where the company will continue to employ 400 people. "We are confident that new opportunities will arise from our expertise in marine and offshore engineering, and through the emerging offshore wind industry." | ceckyspunt
30/12/2009 16:20 | I'm out and will await updates on non Brazilian trading prospects | phillis
30/12/2009 01:43 | Hope you didn't take the citigroup or british bulls advice - a single lesson in being careful about the so-called city experts and listening to their expert opinions on being so in-the-know and better than anyone else! Look for a drop again to 490 in the 7/10 days - and then, guess what? | eisler
22/12/2009 10:08 | Ho ho ho - good old WSM - hope you all ignored the British Bulls and Citigroup negative comments and took my advice instead and got aboard! That's Xmas paid for! Merry Xmas everyone! | eisler
18/12/2009 22:30 | dragonfly doji followed by white candle indicating trend reversal? I suggested that a reversal would happen on 14th at 490 - OK so slightly out - but fingers crossed for a return to 540/550 next week... | eisler
18/12/2009 10:40 | Nice bounce, current trading range 500-600p, will be interesting to see if it can break £6 on the next attempt. | gunther1
15/12/2009 15:49 | There are not a lot of orders being placed just now, and BP have just awarded some flexibles from Technip for Schiehallion. Wellstream would have been chasing that order I bet..... Next year should be better though, orders should start picking up later in 2010, there are a few Projects starting up. Mostly small tie-back type work which lends itself to flexible flowlines which Wellstream / Technip / NKT manufacture. | failedqs
15/12/2009 15:34 | Until we have some positive (or negative )news,I can see the share price ranging between £4.60p and £5.30p. Fluctuation will be driven by performance of FTSE 250 or Oil prices. Any rumours of takeovers would be appreciated too! Although Wellstream have a good contract in Brazil, there seems little elsewhere hence the recent "Sells" by brokers. | cwavecrest
15/12/2009 15:14 | this really is on a knifes edge at the moment. | ceckyspunt
10/12/2009 16:54 | british bulls also confirm this as a sell according to candlestick analysis! | ceckyspunt
10/12/2009 12:12 | Citigroup out with a Sell note today, target 435p. | simon gordon
09/12/2009 13:19 | So pleased my last comment was good enough to make it as an RNS release on the 'latest news' board!!! | eisler
05/12/2009 00:15 | Nice little earner again - good old WSM, so predictable. Expect a gradual drift down to 490ish again before another reversal around about 13/14th for a Santa rally - barring any announcements. | eisler
27/11/2009 12:23 | Made my entry at 491p - following on from the Instys buys. They are priviledged to more info than I am so........... | wsm812
25/11/2009 23:01 | Vanguard loading up? Seems like 500 may be the entry point after all! | eisler
25/11/2009 21:03 | Eisler 600p would be a good punt here too; always seem to time this one wrong never getting burned with wsm just scalping meagre profits; would be happy to push between 550-600, higher the better of course | fayde
24/11/2009 09:07 | Fair comment - but it's more than likely we'll see 600 again - making this a good punt (for me anyway). | eisler
24/11/2009 08:26 | FINESS: Well I was tempted to go back in again too - but the trouble is that every time we do relent and "go back in" - we're not going back in to the same company. There's no doubt that Wellstream is now really feeling the heat from competitors all over the world . The days of 900p per share are - IMHO - behind us forever. | sandbank
23/11/2009 11:14 | Oh Dear Back in again | finess
23/11/2009 00:01 | Technip are also opening a new flexible pipe plant in Malaysia in 2010, named Asiaflex Products. This will service the asia pacific market, particularly around Australia where Wellstream recently had work from BHP for the Pyrenees project. Further squeeze on Wellstream maybe. old news from 2008 but gives the background.......... Asaiflex............ | matchstik
22/11/2009 19:37 | Looks like they may be losing market share outside of Brasil | phillis
21/11/2009 00:36 | Looks like it has broken supporting trendline... | tokolosh
21/11/2009 00:17 | Made loadsa cash day trading WSM this year - in and out like a fiddlers elbow. Would usually pile in at 500 - but a tad more cautious in light of recent news. However, if it dips to 450 it will be like Xmas and birthdays rolled into one! Get on board with the double deckers if it does. As usual, IMHO, DYOR blah blah blah. Way overdone at those levels - you can expect 600 again by mid 2010. Check the graph and make your own mind up! | eisler
20/11/2009 15:44 | Technip are one of the biggest Subsea Players in the North Sea, French Company. They can supply flexibles from their Le Trait base in France (ie same type of product as Wellstream), as well as subsea umbilicals, and the complete installation package with their large fleet of vessels. | failedqs
20/11/2009 14:14 | Who are Technip? are they listed on the LSE btw i bought today at 4.90 am i mad lol | johnthespacer |
