It's all rather confusing. Orion payments start from 31st August (according to RNS) and WTI have to pay $8.6m. I assume these are now quarterly payments. As a fee Orion get the 1st 700 tones at max price of $6000.

Cant recall the Orion arrangement precisely but from memory the agreement was a optional one not obligatory and was for 500 tonnes only

waterloo01,

I disagree.

If copper holds at current levels or higher, as others have commented it will encourage WTI to re-open its mothballed mines and increase production on the current site.

It ALL depends on the price of copper.

I suppose that Orion could choose to pass on part of the hedged copper and let WTI benefit from higher spot, and therefore pay down some debt instead. But that is just wishful thinking on my part!

Can someone clarify the Orion situation. My reading is that WTI won't see any benefit of copper over $6000 a tonne until after April 2018.What happens after this date re Orion?

This share is completely linked into the price of copper and now we have breached $3/pound this could really begin to motor

Bill & Mattjos - Many thanks for your detailed input - From The Times this morning Goldman prredicts copper prices will dwindle. Goldman forecasts that spot copper will fall from $6,500 to $5,500by next year. It seems that there is a two way pull in copper price forecasts - The only thing I am sure of is that the higher the price the more miners will rush to build production potentially leading to a slump unless the electric car production grows at the top end of predictions.

If you are interested in copper might be worth a look at Excelsior Mining in Arisona

Copper in situ project link to their site - Direct operating costs – projected at $0.65 cents are very interesting -

Excelsior is developing the Gunnison Copper Project, a low cost in-situ recovery copper project located within the copper porphyry belt of Arizona.
Based on an initial production rate of 25 million pounds per year, which will be processed through the adjacent Johnson Camp Mine, and using a US$2.75/lb copper price, the Feasibility Study indicates a post-tax NPV (7.5% discount rate) of US$807 million, and an IRR of 40% with a payback period of initial capital of 2.8 years. Production would be staged; ramping up to full production of 125 million pounds. Initial capital expenditures (including 15% contingency) are estimated at US$46.9 million with an average life-of-mine direct operating cost of US$0.65/lb.

Declaration I have held for some years and now up some 300% but no investment advice - If price of copper falls back so will MIN. Listed on the TSX.

I am working on a timeline of 3 years from here, by which time we should be something nearer 15p/share ... more if copper remains elevated at $6500+ & they manage to gradually bring Otjihase back into production on an unhedged basis & with proper management controls.At some point before then though, the company will become active on exploration again & look to prove up an extension to Tschudi & finally get serious about Tsumeb West.This part of the world is littered with copper deposits & exploration licences that are doing nothing ... the govt has said it wants to stop this EL squatting and get these assets into production for the good of the populous so, Weatherly will eventually go acquisitive or be acquired, imo. However, all a ways down the road yet ... Craig Thomas strikes me a very driven individual. It's all here for Jim now to prove his worth

All: Given the level of debt anyone know to what level copper has to rise before bottom line profitable and debt paid down - Or put it another way how much must copper rise before the company can be sold and debt paid off with something left for shareholders.

@leedskier
I didn't mean to cause any offence, I just thought I might be helpful in sharing information that could be beneficial to those here with whom I had been a fellow shareholder and about which I had also previously posted positive views.
