Good news - WJG have been granted planning permission for their new mixed "live-work" development in Bournemouth:

Per the article some disunity in the council, but this shows just how well WJG use the system.

Decent sized purchase just shown on ADVFN.

I am surprised that this has fallen back so far from its recent high, but I expect a steady rise now in the run up to the results.

SANTANGELLO - but they are always 'in line with expectations', which makes future performance against the market a bit problematic. They are a very consistent company!

'The Group will be announcing its Final Results on Monday, 15 January 2018'

I for one cannot wait for this set of results.....and no doubt the traders will arrive soon for a smash and grab.

If only they were long here........

I would think many will be getting nervous of the letting market in Scotland with the changes that have been brought in this week. Abolition of fixed term tenancies, rent caps, more restrictions on landlords removing tenants etc. Mind you it'll be nothing compared to what Corbyn & C0. are proposing. It'll probably be a capital offence to charge rent only mitigated by handing the property to the tenant for nothing.

News of another 300 bed student accommodation development, this time in Glasgow:

"Student accommodation plan for former Glasgow print plant
Nov 22, 2017

The former John Watson & Company print works in Glasgow is to be redeveloped as student accommodation and office space following its sale to developers Watkin Jones.

The planned development at Kyle, Calgary and Stafford Streets, will comprise student accommodation of around 300 bedrooms, ancillary accommodation, amenity space and parking....

....Graeme Todd of DM Hall, who oversaw the sale, said: “The property was sold at a closing date with several offers generated by a marketing campaign which had the benefit of an existing planning consent for a student accommodation development.

“Whilst there is much talk and debate about continuing demand for student accommodation development, our marketing of Kyle Street generated considerable interest, particularly as the site had so much to commend it, being close to the city centre, the motorway and a short walking distance from major bus and rail links.

“Demolition of the old printing works is imminent and the development should be projected for completion in August 2019.”

Hi Rivaldo,Thanks, I wonder where HMG's £8b PRS support is going to go?!Regarding the perpetual selling pressure, I had wondered whether it was nervousness about BPR (IHT relief) being hit in the Budget (a friend said recently that he thought WJG was now classified as an eligible company). However, I can see nothing yesterday to say BPR was impacted - any comments?Cheers, tightfist

It's the case that trades often don't appear on ADVFN - large trades are delayed and only appear late in the day. I bought ACL this morning - no sign of my trade (though hardly Buffet size :-)).

Lots of trades take place off the market - they don't appear on ADVFN either or anywhere else for that matter, the volume column is of limited value imho.

Interesting to note that IG has this down on the day at 1.68% 210/213.

This seems to be a general issue with ADVFN prices recently, ACL this morning as well, and others.

Drop could be reflecting the shambles at ESP, and its cut in dividend. It might not be as easy to make big profits from student accomodation as once thought, but WJG operates in a different way, and it has good management.

Tightfist, there was this:

"Moreover, the government will spend £2.7bn to increase the Housing Infrastructure Fund, £400m for estate regeneration, £8bn to support private housebuilding and the purpose-built private rented sector"

I wonder if the share price fall was due to some playing safety-first prior to the Budget - presumably given this afternoon's price action some of those are now coming back into the WJG water.

Did anyone catch what Philip Hammond said 2/3 of the way through his Budget speech about support for the PRS sector?

Weird day yesterday. Got a few at 190. Fun and games. Wonder what happened? Might have been a placing of some sort that got a bit mismanaged.

Well I had another 2k top up as I'm in for the long haul. FWIW, I've rarely seen such a transparent company on AIM re pipeline income, sound management and working in a niche and expanding building sector and that's before the new PRS mkt we're now addressing. I'll keep adding as funds permit at this level as I think at I would feel safe if the share price was 10% higher. Just my view.

Did buy some more at 179 but overweight sosoldback again at 197. Don't often trade but then share price are not often that volatile in the profitable companies that represent long term investments For me.
