Posted at 31/3/2024 16:44 by cardinal3 Interesting, pretax. I haven't seen any numbers lately but sense tells me getting vocational training so you can contribute from day 1 is a decent bet for kids these days unless you want to be in the City or a specialist science career. So on balance WJG are going to need to take care where they propose developments. They also have an outstanding planning approval near where I am and there isn't a tertiary education facility in sight. I think they have pulled in their horns pending better financials. |
Posted at 29/3/2024 18:19 by pretax2 It's a funny old world. Here I am looking for a good dividend stock and trying to work out what Watkin Jones does. I'm looking for a home for my Voluntary Severance Scheme money having decided to leave a UK university. 600+ staff took VSS at the university and another 160 are being made redundant. Why, well because students are shunning university education. Why saddle yourself with a lifelong debt to qualify for a profession like Operating Department Technition or Occupation Therapist who have a fairly average wage on the whole. Overseas students (e.g. Nigeria) are also shunning the UK becuase their country has run out of dosh. With fewer students there's less need for student accommodation. Meanwhile my research is suggesting that smart divi investors are piling into oil stocks like BP, Shell and tidlers like I3E. I've put a bit into these too. |
Posted at 20/3/2024 18:59 by dixienormas We will reduce rates before the US, pound will weaken and make the UK attractive to international students. Good for WJG |

Posted at 23/1/2024 08:29 by rat attack The lack of final dividend has been well flagged by the company over the last 6 months |

Posted at 19/12/2023 20:27 by bend1pa The naysayers on here seem to have gone awfully quiet of late, one of the main ones saying 17th Oct "I simply don't see any upside in this share unless and until they can sell their products at a profit'.At that time the share price hit a low of 35p. Today it's about 50% higher. WJG may be down, but certainly not out yet. |
Posted at 09/10/2023 08:24 by hybrasil High dividend yieldsIn my opinion based on the lack of asset sales they should pull the dividend Good business model Yes in a low interest rate era. No at a time like this Market cap I have dealt with this on many occasions the share is currently trading at or close to asset value whereas excellent property companies are trading at about 30% discount Excellent rental income That statement is I think pure manure. Likely capital gains They have already told us of the projected impairments. There are probably more to come |
Posted at 09/10/2023 00:50 by blackhorse23 High dividend yields, good business models, 5 times higher asset values than mcap , low mcap , excellent rental income plus excellent capital gains real assets |
