I have managed to access the annual report, (RNS 3/7). VTH seems to be a tough, well-run progressive and successful Hong Kong company, with most of its business in the US, but a broad spread in Europe and elsewhere. Recent purchases by Templeton Asia strengthen the appeal. BUT the directors say that the dual listing in London and HK is not worthwhile, and they are proposing to de-list from London. Reluctantly, I'm leaving this one alone - dyor!

pushing close to year high in hk at hkd 32.25, which equal approx 237p compared to mm's at about 190p. no doubt that thin mkt in uk is problem for traders like me, but extremely profitabl for mm's

hk price is very strong closing at 10.60 hk, so it has gone up about 25% in two days.tried to buy yesterday in uk,but sellers only deal in 1000 share lots so ended up buying 1000 only at 60p. i tried to buy more but my broker told me i have to wait about half hour between each purchase, othrwise it smacks of mkt manipulation.alternative is buy large amount shares at a big premium over current mkt.even today with uk mkt around 65p,it is still undervalued relative to hk mkt which equivalent to 85p

Well it's now HK$7.75 UP 12% last night, but only 8% over here. It should be 61p mid. The share price is driven by the HK market with the UK/US playing catch up when anybody buys or sells, otherwise the price remains static, For an up to date HK price for VTH visit their website and click on to Investor relations.

Until yesterday the last trade in these was 23/5. At 1159 yesterday I tried to buy some of these through my HSBC teletrade service only to be told that as it was a residual stock they could only sell them but not buy. If you look at the chart for Friday you will see that the price ticked up just after 1200 on no volume, but obviously somebody told someone something. A few hours later and the price had risen 15% on three trades.
If you look at the RNS announcements you'll notice that if anyone manages to buy these shares they tend to be awarded their very own RNS! This must be one of the very few companies that issue a statement about increased trading volume from 0 to 500 shares.
I like highly illiquid, wide spread, "undiscovered" stocks, because they can become higher liquidity, narrower spread, much talked about stocks, if you are prepared to wait. However, I doubt if this thread will ever become a "I'm in for another 100k" type though.
These shares are mainly traded in Hong Kong, but they are also listed as a "Pink Coupon" OTC in New York under the EPIC: VTKHY.PK so i've tipped off my american girlfriend to run her financial fingers through VTH's a/c's but advised her to buy anyway. :-)

Anyone still watching VTH? Management thinks its undervalued. Now only one market maker on this one. Where did the other one go? Edit: I see the second MM is now back -- should help the spread.

I am amazed that here is a nice little riser, good chart prospect, yet little BB coverage. It seems to me that the more postings there are on a stock (eg. WGG, MMD etc), the more it is likely to head down! I have bought into this so must not over-do things!

HD -- no idea, but chart suggest support at 50p & the MM's think its worth 55p at the moment-- I'm definitely watching this one. Shame about the spread though with only two MM's.

The main banks are strongly against selling before you receive your certificate as it is almost T10 or T20 which they do not allow.

I doubt very much you will be allowed to spreadbet on this one but the MK is over 100m so I will look into it.
