Don't you just love this company? While all around is going crazy they keep on winning orders and repositioning the business for growth. Long and strong here.

Agree with you, but see my comments re.Change of Control clauses in the JV agreement. Does anyone know when it will be put to shareholders?

Picked up some more today as they were down on market weakness.

hi there, my guess is bae systems joint venture was market pleasing but is not totally confirmed until shareholders vote. If shareholders vote on the joint venture then potential takeover candiates could find vtg attractive to their strategic plan.

This stock is a nice hedge on the market over the past few days .... market rises, VTG drops and vice versa.

NK, up 20p in 2 days but down 30p the three days before that. This is still early stages.

Bought in at £6 this morning, looks like much more upside than downside unless the market crashes. This has to have some legs, either on a re-rating or as a takeover target which it surely must be.

I wonder what the JV with BAE Systems says about change of control at VT ... must be something there, BAE are cute and might have sought a de facto pre-emption right.

I'll have a dig ... (probably should have done that before buying(!) but I've been in and out of this stock for a while and I think it's well worth £6 on fundamentals - and the drop this morning looked market induced).

Takeover spotters set sights on VT Group

The FT

With a bid approach for Scottish & Newcastle, up 18.8 per cent to 756p, finally flushed out, traders were looking Wednesday for the next takeover target.

Many of them alighted on defence company VT Group.

Shares in VT rose 6 per cent to 616p on volumes two-and-a-half times the daily average amid rumours it had attracted the attention of a predator prepared to pay over 700p a share.

Sector watchers said Serco, up 3 per cent to 434¾p, would definitely be interested but a bid from a defence company such as Lockheed Martin or BAE Systems, steady at 510p, could not be ruled out.

VT has been radically reshaped under the leadership of Paul Lester, its chief executive.

The company is merging its shipbuilding business with BAE so it can focus on its fast-growing defence services business

VT "buy," estimates raised

Panmure Gordon & Co

LONDON, September 26 (newratings.com) - Analyst Mike Murphy of Panmure Gordon maintains his "buy" rating on VT Group Plc (VTG.ISE), while raising his estimates for the company. The target price is set to 675p.

In a research note published this morning, the analyst mentions that the trading update indicates that the company has made progress across the board. The improving breadth and depth of VT's support services operations is likely to help the company sustain more than 10% EPS growth for several years, the analyst says. The company's JV with BAE is making progress, with the signing of a contract anticipated soon, followed by shareholder, and subsequently EU, approval, Panmure Gordon adds. The EPS estimate for FY08 has been raised from 33.6p to 34.5p
