RNS Number:6039X Virotec International PLC 01 June 2007 VIROTEC INTERNATIONAL PLC 1 June 2007 First UK Water Company Contract The Directors of Virotec International plc ("Virotec")(AIM:VTI) are pleased to announce that Virotec has entered into a contract to supply ViroFilterTM Technology to a Water Company in the UK. Valued at approximately #63,000, the contract will be implemented in the second half of 2007. It is planned that the limits for phosphate levels being discharged into British waterways, particularly inland waterways, will be dramatically reduced in the coming years from approximately 5-10 parts per million to less than two parts per million. Virotec has demonstrated that its ViroFilter(TM)Technology has the capacity to reduce phosphate to these lower target limits through extensive testing of the Technology by the Water Research Council in 2005 and by one of the UK's largest Water Companies over the past six months. This contract provides for the supply of a ViroFilter(TM)passive treatment system to one of many wastewater treatment plants throughout the UK, and is able to reduce the level of phosphate to the new reduced limit. Dr Lee Fergusson, Virotec's Chief Executive Officer stated "It has taken some time and extensive testing to demonstrate the effectiveness of the Technology to the Water Industry and we believe this first commercial contract, whilst small, will provide a showcase of our Technology for the industry. The contract relates to one small town, of approximately 650 people, and there are thousands of similar and larger towns in the UK that can benefit from the Technology. A major commercial driver will soon be in place with the regulator requiring stricter targets, and we are confident that in the ensuing years this will form the basis of many further contracts in this area". New Appointment As part of the ongoing strategic positioning of Virotec in the UK, Stephen Young has been appointed as the new UK General Manager. Stephen comes to Virotec Europe from his former positions as Waste Manager for Veolia Environmental Services and Area Manager for Shanks Chemicals. He has significant experience in the waste treatment industry throughout the UK, and Virotec Europe believes his appointment to the company is a positive step in building its profile in the waste treatment and environmental remediation industries in the United Kingdom. Sales in Australia The Directors are also pleased to report Australia achieved two consecutive record months for revenue in April and May, 2007, with the business invoicing in excess of $AUD 900,000 for the two months. Projects with a state road construction company, a large commercial land developer, and further significant projects in CCA treatment, mining and other industrial waste treatments helped spur the business to this record. Dr Lee Fergusson, Virotec's Chief Executive Officer added "Whilst these sales were boosted by some one off projects, the continued increased level of demand for our solutions is very satisfying. The business is well positioned for continued growth in this area".
