Some more buying today; couple of deals gone through for 3 shares which seems to have moved the share price .. If they start buying in double figures this could go ballistic! Larger trades to be reported later?

VTC normally get dealt in 1's and 2's, so volume today was quite a lot higher than usual. Looks to me as if someone bought 108,827 at 640.44p Perhaps one or two people have woken up to the companies attractions... It's been a long time coming!

A great couple of days, something must be brewing. Volumes don't seem that high though!

Vitec Group

Wherever television crews gather, Vitec is certain to have a behind-the-scenes role. This low-profile £250 million group is a leading maker of outside broadcast equipment, from tripods and battery packs to grips and camera bags – everything bar cameras and microphones. Yesterday, it strengthened its hold on the media circus with the purchase of two American suppliers of wireless links that enable mobile TV cameras to transmit digital signals. Albeit for a maximum payment of £37 million, it marks Vitec's biggest acquisition spend in a decade.

The pair are essentially a play on the American switch from analogue to digital. In return for being awarded a valuable band of spectrum, Sprint Nextel, the telecoms operator, is being forced by the US Government to fund the replacement of equipment used by television channels whose band width has been reassigned: a spend put at $600 million over the next three years. Although both are loss-making, their order books are full, enabling Vitec to predict that the deals will "materially" enhance earnings from 2008. A heavy earn-out component should also help. Any downturn in digital SLR cameras – keen amateurs account for one-quarter of Vitec's sales – is a concern, but, at 14 times 2008 earnings, the shares look reasonably priced. Buy at 601½p.

Good to see you here CR. I've held these for years but only profitable recently. Chart looking good and looks as if we are in for further gains. Just need to find a few people who can buy more than 20 shares, lol! Where's your team?

CR - re your post 8 above, yes! :-)

Volatile but moving sideways in a wide range now. Much more comforting, but I'm still on the outside looking in.

Chart looking better Chris?

Moves on pitiful volume - not sure the chart is that reliable but a decent move today.

Been watching these for a little while. Short-term at least the prospects for the share price look doubtful. The sudden drop to the present level takes it down through the short term rising trend line, and longer term, if you take the support through the January and early-July bottoms, there is still a further 40p of air beneath the present shareprice before it hits the next support.

Also, the chart now appears to show the ominous pattern of a double top with the second top being lower than the first. Also, if you look back to the previous sudden plunge, back in May, it did bounce most, but not all of the way back up, only to continue falling and finish somewhat lower than it was at the bottom of the initial plunge.

Still watching but I'm seriously struggling to see anything positive in the chart at the moment.
