12/6/2007 08:36 | If it did turn out to be Areva and there is no cash offer, what would our options be in terms of trading? | nabcom
12/6/2007 08:34 | My prediction of a bidding war could bear fruit. UMN is an extremely desirable asset. I feel it could go for near, or even over, £5 per share. | papillon
12/6/2007 08:26 | ASH999: Sorry if I've offended you, but we can't all be plutocrats. I could only afford to buy 3 shares. ...And the annual report is fuel for the brazier we keep burning here under the railway arches. | sandbank

12/6/2007 00:38 | UraMin: Talks With 1 Potential Buyer At Very Advanced Stage 310 words 11 June 2007 17:16 Dow Jones International News English (c) 2007 Dow Jones & Company, Inc. OTTAWA (Dow Jones)--Africa-focus UraMin spokesman Steve Vaughan said, "There are a number of companies that have approached us, and we are dealing with one very seriously." Vaughan declined to comment on the identity of this company. Last month, a UraMin official speaking on condition of anonymity said discussions with CNNC had been taking place for a year, but didn't specify whether they involved a takeover or long-term uranium supply deals. Liu Xuehong, deputy general manager of CNNC's unit specializing in uranium procurement, confirmed at the time that the two companies were in talks but said it was too early to tell whether they would lead to an offer for UraMin. Vaughan couldn't give an estimated date for concluding the negotiations, but said, "the talks are well well advanced, and hopefully we're working through the process." He added that it wasn't guaranteed that the talks would end with a sale of the company. UraMin has yet to commit any output from its mines in Namibia, the Central African Republic and South Africa, making it an attractive target for firms in need of uranium supplies. Production at its biggest project - Trekkopje in Namibia - is due to begin next year, and annual volumes from the mine are forecast to reach around 10 million pounds by 2010, a tenth of current global production. 12/6/2007 00:23 | This current price is far too cheap, considering the bid potentially at due diligence stage. I expect to get past £4 pretty quickly. | logica2me
12/6/2007 00:07 | Well in Canada it closed at 7.75 which is equivalent to 3.71 here. So thats where I would expect us to be tomorrow. | liam1om
11/6/2007 23:56 | papillon - looks like we will find out pretty soon either way! Still feel the Chinese are somewhere in the loop, if not they will have to look elsewhere so the sector could take off again. Global bidding war is always possible, but I just cant see it - it would just be too nutty!! Looks like we will gap up in the morning! | malkie
11/6/2007 23:52 | Pocket money to buy UMN, in the scheme of things! | logica2me
11/6/2007 23:22 | Areva: 58,000 employees 10 billion Euro sales 83 production sites in over 40 countries prob. 500 million Euros in cash Very big. I'm sure they could find the cash if they wanted to. But no idea if that's the way it'll turn out. | mikkydhu
11/6/2007 22:58 | How would that work then? Do we know if they are cash rich? I don't particularly want Areva shares.... prefer £5 a share cash please! | logica2me
11/6/2007 21:28 | Closed in Canada just 6 cents off the high of the day and all time high for an 11.5% rise. | mikkydhu

11/6/2007 18:50 | I too hold lots of GLA so feeling happy tonight.Off for a beer to celebrate see you all tomorrow. | goldrush
11/6/2007 18:38 | I've been invested in UMN for around a year and, along with many others, have long suspected that UMN would lose its independence before it started mining. I don't believe SXR Uranium One will be a bidder having recently bid for Energy Metals and only recently swallowed UrAsia. I'm sure that the major mining conglomerates are potential bidders. goldrush, I do hold GLA. Looks like it a UMN bid will be very good news for GLA.. | papillon |
