18/7/2011 09:39 | Pretty amazing in the current climate. I remember they were called by some as the aldi/Lidl of carpet retailers and these results show they can outperform even when the retail enviornment is difficult. | lbo
18/7/2011 07:41 | Excellent set up results, for like to like to fall by 1.4% when we compare this group to others including the big ones such as carpetright the performance it fantastic. Clearly UCG has the most resilient business model. | envirovision

02/4/2011 11:10 | Also UCG was expected to benefit when Allied partly collapsed in 2009 so they may seek to benefit again! United Carpets to rise as Allied Carpets falls | lbo
02/4/2011 10:15 | UCG clearly has a decent business model so will hold up. Interesting post LBO, shows how hard is is out there. Sadly looks like little cross over to help UCG, however if UCG were to push further south, reduced competition always helps. I wonder if they will expand southward one day. I have looked at their franchise offering and it looks good and if they wanted to, I would consider an outlet myself down this way. | envirovision
02/4/2011 09:49 | Forecast is for profits to hold up and dividend to be sustained. They seem to be holding up well versus competitors. | lbo

25/1/2011 16:54 | Is this share price EVER going to get any better? | arnies
16/12/2010 23:38 | bletherer agree with you, i dont hold at the moment sold after ex divi + the bad weather is sure to affect sales again soon but the piece about beds seems to negate that point. With independent carpet retailers struggling to pay rent fees more market share for ucg and cpr i feel. on my watchlist though, this is a great buy for the div though around sept to end of jan next year with hopeful share price movement between these times. | rolo7
16/12/2010 12:34 | ho hum, another UCG report comes out, and once again no-one takes a blind bit of notice. Not an amazing performance it's true, but their financial position remains very solid and those dividends keep coming. I suspect that sooner or later they will be the subject of a bid from a larger competitor, but even if that doesn't happen I'm happy to keep holding these. | bletherer
30/11/2010 11:03 | Tile and wood flooring firm Topps Tiles said recent sales gave it "cause for confidence" as it benefits from the UK's "improve not move" trend. The group, which trades from 312 outlets across the UK, said like-for-like sales in the first seven weeks of its new financial year were up 3.2% on the previous year. | lbo
20/10/2010 11:09 | The Economy UK high street sales grow for third month running Solid sales growth was also recorded in the furniture & carpets sector | lbo
18/10/2010 18:41 | From the first of the above articles - "The group's long-term future remains sound supported by positive cash balances, an expanding store portfolio and a well established brand." | loganair |
