Ahead of this week's US Masters golf tournament, Sportscard Group plc ("the Company" or "Sportscard"), the UK rewards-based credit card company, announces that it has signed a three year partnership agreement with Golf Network Ltd ("Golf Network"). The deal will see Sportscard gain access to a significant number of potential new cardholders, as well as enabling it to provide exciting new benefits to cardholders. Sportscard will market its credit card to the Golf Network's database of members, currently a total of 412,000 golfing enthusiasts but expected to reach 750,000 by the end of next year. The Company, whose endorsed marketing campaigns have previously enjoyed success rates over double the industry average, sees the deal as another significant step towards achieving its goal of having 500,000 active cardholders over the next five years. As part of the agreement, Sportscard will also have the opportunity to market their unique rewards-based credit card proposition via Golf Network's magazine and promotional material. This will include special golf events throughout the UK. The two companies have agreed to market a unique national programme allowing Sportscard holders to receive 'two for the price of one' green fees at over 500 golf courses across the UK. A further benefit to Sportscard holders will be access to free tickets for a number of leading golf tournaments and functions, including the Ryder Cup and Victor Chandler British Masters. Sportscard cardholders will be able to exchange their "Sports Points", earned when spending on their card, for these exclusive tickets. Sportscard also offers its cardholders "hard to find" tickets to a variety of other high profile sporting events including, rugby internationals at Twickenham, Premier League football matches and Wimbledon Tennis. Cardholders can also use their "Sports Points" to pay for any UK sports club membership fees and in-club expenses, sports merchandise and overseas tours packages to sports events including the US Masters golf tournament. Sportscard, which is partnered by Capital One Bank, the sixth largest credit card operator in the US, receive revenue from new card subscriptions and a proportion of both the amount spent on the card and net interest paid by cardholders. The agreement with Capital One also provides Sportscard with increasing royalty levels as the number of accounts grow. The deal has provided the Company with an additional dedicated marketing database of up to 250,000 sports enthusiasts. Last month the company signed a further agreement with Barbarians Rugby Club, making Sportscard the official sponsor of the clubs forthcoming tour matches.
