Posted at 13/6/2002 21:19 by ellie2309 The cost-cutting moves are relatively small for a conglomerate that employs more than 250,000 people, carries about $27 billion in debt and operates in more than 100 countries. Tyco makes a wide range of products, including ADT burglar alarms, diapers, plastic garbage bags and medical supplies. Excuse my ignorance in this statemetent, but ADT make a wide range of products including burglar alarms. In the old days yes, as far as I was involved (UK ONLY) The last ADT Conference (UK ONLY) that I was involved in, the mentionioning of ADT was that "we are not a product company but a service company and people are expecting us to be the next Titanic which will not happen" ( simular words to that exact effect ) Although the share price may show a SLIGHT Improvement, I do not believe in making the pyramid any stronger. Just look at the people who sold their shares before this surprise. |
Posted at 07/6/2002 15:36 by ellie2309 From my own experience in buying and selling these shares, you cannot buy them electronically as they were only available in share certificate form. I dealt through Charles Shwabb for buying and and selling. My only problems I ever encountered was that they would only quote you a price and shares confirmation of order usually took a few hours. In the meantime the price could fluctuate. Selling was a nightmare, the price quoted was alweays subject to them receiving back the certificates for them to send away before releasing the money. One of the main problems I encountered was the actuall dividend payments. Hope you have better luck if you believe they are a good investment. |
Posted at 07/6/2002 15:14 by ellie2309 Perhaps the spread is so big to stop you selling your shares. A bit like the penalty imposed on Equitable Life surrender policies.Even the £10:00 reasonable price quoted by younasm above, appears to be breached for the worse. This is an interesting share to keep watching. I always believed in what goes around, comes around. |
