16/11/2001 14:50 | parrett Dificult question to answer - depends on liquidity, option price and spread on share and time remaining. For an option on ARM Dec 390 put currently 22 @ 25. I nearly always buy them in conjunction with sold plays, spread then less of an issue. | tim
16/11/2001 14:49 | thanks chadd,what is the average p/e | ruth
16/11/2001 14:48 | harvester The options which expired today are on the indices, FTSE, DAX, DOW etc, you are right the equity options expire on Friday. When I went on the Advfn options course one of the things they advised to watch was the amount of open interest at a particular strike to indicate where the biggest positions are. So I have been watching these to see if and how they get manipulated at expiry. I am no expert but if the big players tend to sell options then on TSCO they would want it to expire at 2.40 for maximum profit on the puts and not above 2.60 on the calls so maybe that is why we are seeing it holding the 2.40 level ??? | llucky
16/11/2001 14:48 | Covered EID long @ £2.545 for 6 pts (partial fill only ;-() | matthewa

16/11/2001 14:40 | ruth, notional measure of the time it would take to earn back the cost of the share based on the companies earnings, historic or projected. Therefore one measure of the relative cheapness or otherwise of the stock. Only of any use when comparing Co's in the same sector IMHO. | chadd
16/11/2001 14:39 | Tim, How wide are the spreads on individual share options? parrett | parrett |
