12/1/2009 16:48 | The above refelects exchange rate movements. What I think they are saying is the real arb (20%) is against the possibility the UK shares are delisted in exchange for Canadian shares. | miata
12/1/2009 16:42 | This so called arbitrage has been around since the company's inception. | liquidkid

23/10/2008 15:29 | MDJ Loads of non financials asked to be included in the prohibited list. I have shorted them on IG Group London account anyway. They still seem to have a 1960's business plan which raps hardware into the package instead of supplying a profitable service over IP. My valuation is 90p so they have a ways to fall still. | ben gunn

22/9/2008 07:20 | Don't get it. Tril is not a financial, therefore no need to close to avoid declaring. I can see anyone with a short position in Tril needing to take profit/loss/close out to cut losses on other positions though which would provide a temporary squeeze on Tril. So back to the argument - Tril is considerably weaker due to the loss of many of its major accounts (we're talking US$ 30 to 50 mill pa in revenues just from Merrill) who will likely consolidate/reduce trading operations. Others have effectively disappeared, others will be cutting costs. The "professional" (non-financial)side of the business is also going to fall under pressure a budgets are cut by the large corporates and legal firms. Why is the price not going down more rapidly?. | mdj8
20/9/2008 09:19 | Latter. Obviously as the hedge funds close their shorts the whole market goes up. As Friday was quarterly expiry the volatility this week was especially high. Note that US quarterly expiries are calculated at the Special Opening Quotation which is why TRIL peaked around 2.40BST when this expiry figure was calculated. Normally volatility decreases rapidly in the week after quarterly expiry as options become much more expensive (3 months time value cost added rather than just 2 days). | miata
20/9/2008 08:37 | MIATA , is that disclosure on all short positions or just financials ? tia | scrapman
20/9/2008 08:09 | Its not about the list, its hedge funds closing their shorts so that they don't have to declare their positions (to press opprobrium) next week. Where positions are more than 0.25 per cent of a company's share capital they must issue a disclosure notice from September 23. | miata
20/9/2008 07:40 | Tril's not on the list. Maybe it'll get hit on Monday. | mdj8
