30/4/2004 17:57 | Hi Dell, You are quite correct that the 30k traded at 17p yesterday was actually a Buy. I know, because I was the buyer !! The market looked incredibly soft, so my broker just offered the bid price at the time to buy, and we got filled immediately for 30k shares. I asked if there was any more stock available, and he said maybe another 20k, but I decided to go back in for another 70k shares. In the end, I left the order in for a few hours, but withdrew it after getting cold feet. Results are due out in a couple of weeks, so think I will check them out first before buying any more. Regards, Paul Scott. | paulypilot

30/4/2004 09:54 | Some good news for an on-line betting provider Sportingbet's well worth a little flutter The world is full of closet gamblers, according to Sportingbet, the online bookie. Only five countries around the world have betting shops, whereas the internet is readily available. Sportingbet yesterday said that profits for the year had more than quadrupled. While sports betting is, obviously, its biggest game, it is also cashing in on the rise in online casino games, particularly in the US. Poker will be onstream in its US sites in June. In the UK, Sportingbet obviously struggles against the trusted brands of William Hill and Ladbrokes. But it is already a top five player in an increasingly competitive market. Its cash flow is very strong, with more than 100 per cent of operating profits translated into cash in the 12 months to March. For the next year or so, this is being gobbled up by debts, but from then on, chunky dividends could be on the cards. An uncertain regulatory environment does, however, overhang Sportingbet. Online gambling is a new concept, and its regulation and duty is in flux from country to country. But the main worry to have kept us out of this stock till now - that of legislative risk in the US - seems to have abated. At 90.25p, the shares have almost doubled in recent months. Still, they are on a competitive forward earnings multiple of around 12 times. Have a flutter. Sportingbet is a customer of trading sports | kevster

30/4/2004 08:56 | Wonder if this is an evo bear trap I can back up pictureframe as Ive seen this up all day and then closed red . | rbonnier
30/4/2004 08:51 | As I am still in bed checking up on my phone, can someone tell me what the online spread is? Cheers | stacks
30/4/2004 08:50 | Stacks - I generally hate long discussions of a "was it a buy, was it a sell" nature but I am 99% sure that both those large trades yesterday were simple buys(delayed by 2hrs as over 6xNMS with an NMS less than 2000) as EVO was clearly desperate to sell. A good broker can get you a buy at the bid or below, on occasions when MMs are tucked up. For trades like those yesterday, it is worth the extra commission to get a good price. 30/4/2004 08:43 | If we move above 15% I might have a small nibble. | pictureframe
30/4/2004 08:42 | Paul - I'd need to check that out(and can't be a*sed!), as I only have vague recollections of "block trades", "iceberg trades" etc. but there clearly must be mechanisms for large blocks that are too big to clear within a short time frame. Some involve breaking it up into smaller blocks but I'm just rambling as I really can't remember.... (Where's Jaknife when you need him?) Rgds dell | dell314
30/4/2004 08:41 | sorry stacks..typed mine as u did yours...of course you could still be right and its some big buys this morning which arent showing yet which has soaked up loads of stock..nms is only 1000 after all... | paulkent
30/4/2004 08:39 | lets hope that if that doesnt happen today picture, that it might prove to be the turning point?!.. interestingly, online right now, they will take 15000 off you but only sell you 3750...looks like dell was spot on and those two biggys yesterday were buys | paulkent
30/4/2004 08:38 | I cant figure out those 2 trades yesterday. They were not T trades. They were excecuted at 4pm earliest. Cant see them both being buys (although large T trade sell over last few weeks might suppot this). I would be inlined to say, the 120k seller was matched with a buyer, the 100k. 30k was a sell and we are still none the wiser for the drop. | stacks
30/4/2004 08:36 | Up 8%....trouble is ive seen this move up as much as 12% then tank red again by close. Still watching this | pictureframe
30/4/2004 08:24 | good brand of coffee then!...i see that the big fall recently started about the 22nd..can a T trade take that long without declaring to the public if the LSE know about it then?? | paulkent
30/4/2004 08:14 | Paul - certainly a more positive start but I believe EVO still have a reasonable amount of stock and they are a close second to WINS for p*ssing about with a few tricks, so I'd still be a little wary for a while. In a flash of coffee induced inspiration, I realised why the LSE hasn't forced TES to make a statement. T trades and certain other types of large trade are notified to the exchange at the start of the trade, so the LSE will know that a large sale is going through. Rgds dell All IMHO & DYOR | dell314
30/4/2004 08:05 | shining not sure we're best placed to answer that as we're all buying it at these levels so cant see why its fallen so much either..prob combo of being overvalued at launch and complete lack of buyers ever since?.. | paulkent
30/4/2004 08:04 | makes sense as ever Dell...might be the start of decent buying to come?? cant see why it slipped so much tho over last month or so coz hardly any sales of note went thru as far as i could see checking back.. | paulkent |
