Xerox Standardizes on Tektronix' Digital Phosphor Oscilloscopes
Purchase Provides Xerox with Cost Savings and Productivity Gains
BEAVERTON, Ore., July 13 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Tektronix, Inc. (NYSE:
TEK), a leading worldwide provider of test, measurement and monitoring
instrumentation, today announced that Xerox Corporation (NYSE:XRX) has
purchased 114 Tektronix Digital Phosphor Oscilloscopes (DPO's) for use
throughout the company. Of the chosen instruments, 91 are the new TDS5000B
with MyScope(TM), the industry's first customizable user interface.
There are many applications for oscilloscopes within Xerox including advanced
timing analysis, power supply design, power quality testing, current
measurements, high voltage measurements, and many design applications.
"The TDS5000B oscilloscope is a very powerful tool, and many of the engineers
here at Xerox use very advanced measurement and analysis functions," said John
Sullivan, Application Engineer, Xerox. "But it's designed so well that anyone
familiar with an oscilloscope can use it. The ease of use greatly increases
productivity."
"Xerox is known as one of the world's leading electronics innovators," said
Colin Shepard, Vice President, Oscilloscope Products, Tektronix. "We are
extremely pleased that Xerox chose Tektronix as its preferred supplier for
oscilloscopes. The decision to standardize on Tektronix Digital Phosphor
Oscilloscopes will help Xerox to improve design and manufacturing processes,
lower development costs and shorten time to market."
"We set out to find the best technology, best value and the best business
partner for Xerox," said Alan Sleeman, Manager, Asset Management, Xerox. "Our
engineers loved the TDS5000B. In a nutshell, we were able to displace much
more expensive equipment while increasing capability, productivity, and lower
our costs."
About the TDS5000B
The TDS5000B Series are digital phosphor oscilloscopes (DPO) that provide
insight into signal behavior by displaying, storing and analyzing complex
signals in real-time to enable engineers and technicians to more efficiently
design, debug, and test their devices. The Series incorporates MyScope(TM)
functionality, enabling users to quickly and easily customize the
oscilloscope's user interface to meet their unique requirements. Users can
create a virtually unlimited number of custom MyScope control windows, enabling
multiple users of a shared oscilloscope to each have their own custom
interface. In addition, the TDS5000B Series uses context sensitive menus with
the Microsoft Windows (R) mouse right-click and scroll wheel features. When
pointing the cursor at an area of interest on the display -- e.g., a waveform
displayed on channel one -- users can right-click to bring up a menu of
possible controls.
About the TDS3000B
The TDS3000B Series are digital phosphor oscilloscopes (DPO) that offer a host
of features aimed at users in electronic design, production, and maintenance.
Among the most innovative of these are WaveAlert(TM) Waveform Anomaly
Detection, which automatically detects and alerts the user to anomalous
waveforms, and e*Scope(TM) web-based remote control capability, which enables
remote instrument control via Internet browser.
