Wonder who wrote this???

... business wrecked.....dividend chopped to zero....customers will desert...stigma there for yonks

QUOTE

1gw - well my assessment is that this was correctly highly valued as a growth company, with increasing profits, divis and everything else looking good into all the forseeable future.

Is it still growth?

The divi will get chopped to zero as provisions are made.

Customers will desert - stupid really, since their risk of cyber attack then doubles with all their deatils duplicated - but logic doesn't enter into it for mot people.

Can they attrract custoers away from others? Nope, the stigma will unfairly be there for yonks. Money talks of course, and if the price is low eneough some will switch to them ... but that's buying turnover and wrecking profits, vanity over sanity.

The hope is there are still some shorts tobe closed, but i guess that most were closed during the big rise a couple of days ago, but may be wrong. Bascially, my view is the business has been wrecked irrespective of the actual facts of the hack.

Each to their own.

Unless you think dido is some sort of manipulatory scumbag, then the divi increase looks to me like she views the future with confidence.

And the city don't take into account whether Mrs aisthopre from pontyfract had problems logging on 3 weeks ago, they look at the company reports.

I've been out of contract with talk for over a year now - i've looked at bb offers from others a few times, but none of them match my talk contract, and that is after quite a few price rises this last year. I just want bb, on demand tv and free calls. let me know who has a better deal. Of course i could shift just for an 80 quid cashback, but the hassle isn't worth it for me. on top of all that, talk are going to give me some unspecified freebie (at zero marginal cost to them no doubt), which i expect will cut churn further.

The problem is the problems are not going to go away. Statistically over 18 months - the period of contacts - watching a 'Titanic' sink. Changes there may be, but don't see this as long term investment. Gambler's stuff. Out.

Google 'any company whatsoever' problems, and guess what you,ll get. These days, shorting gangs not only invade bbs, they invade review sites, company sites and anything else which they think will earn them a buck. Not saying there have been no problems, just as there are problems with every company. Just they may be exaggerated in this case because I experienced none at all.

Pierre,

Suggest you Google ' Talk Talk problems today ' and read the comments.People from Norwich,Walsall,Rainhill,Thetford,Cambridge, in recent posts. Seems fairly widespread to me.

No problems here sending or receiving emails. So not that widespread.

Widespread problems with customers not being able to access or send emails since around 5pm yesterday.Talk talk customer services ( if you can get through ) blaming the cyber attack 3 weeks ago ! Worth reading the on line comments from users to get an idea of how much business this is going to cost them. Time to get back in - I think not!!

Tried to buy in at opening yesterday (literally 08:00) but the price was already quoted +12% from the off, so no chance of getting in at anything like the pre-report price. Surprised (sheesh, this share constantly surprises me!) to see the price down 5p today at the open, I was expecting another surge today and thought I was too late to get back in at the price i wanted.

I must say i was expecting a divi cut (to nothing). Really surprised the divi was increased, which i take as bullish more than anything else in reports or what directors say.

It's a change of view based on new factual information available. It's always best imv to have evidentially based views rather than emotionallly based views.

Wow. That was a sudden change of heart Pierre. Still good to have you back. The thread needs all the serious contributors it can get...

The annoying thing is that without the hack and after the recent good results these, imo, would be five quid now with growth ratings still intact and i wouldn't have had the bother of selling and buying back.

Well that's me back in.

The increased divi was the clincher, plus free upgrades for all subscribers which will cut churn (no idea what we'll get), plus the current yeild, plus the costings for the hack, plus whatsherface bought in, plus there are few if any longs sitting on a profit waiting to sell, plus there are many shorts sitting on a profit waiting to buy.

I wonder if dido was right to come clean about the hack? Certainly cost me a packet by doing so, mainly i feel due to the press and seemingly everyone else putting their oar in. Compare to Vod where a similar hack happened after Talk's, and virtually no price reaction probably due to the bosses keeping schtum.

Whatever, in a year's time when there'll be zero memory of the hack, i'm hoping talk will be hitting the 400s again.

Rath wake up and smell the coffee the stock market can be brutal. There is no way ones posts on here can influence high levels. I'm just posting my thoughts take it or leave it. Yesterday I dived in with a short - foolish not too!!!!

Takeover speculation in The Telegraph.

"Given the consolidation that has already taken and is taking place in the telecoms sector, the potential for a takeover of TalkTalk now from one of the sector’s biggest beasts has to be high.

Clearly such a deal could not happen without the backing of Sir Charles and fellow Carphone founder David Ross, who owns a 12pc stake in TalkTalk. But, despite Wednesday’s 10.3pc price rise, the shares are 40pc below where they were in June, and a well-timed, well-priced bid might be just the tonic – given an acquirer would undoubtedly stamp its brand on the service and have deeper pockets to be able to spend more on internet security. 1gw, Well done for buying near the low.

I dread to think how low the share price will hit once the divi is cancelled.

180p on the cards. Sorry guys but talktalk messed up. I'm going to terminate my custom with the company along with many others.
Once it hits 150p I'll buy and sell at 180p levels ready for a take over bid
