07/3/2008 09:15 | TRAC are talking at a Cenex event at Sheffield on Monday. Hopefully get an update and further interest. | greyseal
19/1/2008 10:33 | Maybe I am being too harsh. The website implies they have the product already for sale. Maybe the mark-up is sufficient for them to hand make the hybrid units and they could set up profitably, reducing cost as volumes increase. Thoughts? | crystalclear
19/1/2008 10:23 | Flywheels are more efficient for kinetic energy recovery. Batteries are maybe better if you want to drive down a hill, park, and drive up again the following morning, but for just driving in traffic, I think a flywheel is better in general, also with the exception of the vehicle being actually stopped. (Maybe you could use a clutch to the spinning flywheel to start the vehicle, instead of a CVT.) F1 is introducing KERS (Kinetic Energy Recovery Systems) in 2009 and it seems like Toyota, BMW and DC might go the electric route but that is because the KERS efficiency in F1 doesn't matter, they are all regulated to be 60kW power and 400kJ per lap of energy recovered (even if you store a megajoule). Also, weight doesn't really matter in F1 as the cars have a regulated weight, are built light, and the weight is made up by carrying depleted uranium ballast. But for street cars, weight is cost and efficiency is performance which is sales, so weight and efficiency matter more than in F1. So for street use, I expect flywheels to win out over electric solutions. A better electric solution was invented years ago. Trolley buses. Here, there is no need to carry around an electric storage unit, and the electricity doesn't need to be converted to and from chemical form in a battery - maybe they advocate supercapacitors for this, I'll have to check!!! I think if this gets made, there is enough demand and political pressure for the stuff to get sold. It will be more efficient than no kinetic energy recycling. But I doubt if this is really the most efficient way to make a hybrid, and suspect that the likes of ZF will have bigger budgets to do things not necessarily better, but more completely, and hence get their stuff to market as a standard product. | crystalclear
18/1/2008 12:23 | interesting stuff on here | rheiner

17/1/2008 10:27 | shame we do not know the amount of revenues from the contract..normally means not significant.. however it is early days but one to def monitor. | jailbird
17/1/2008 10:25 | Up today to near 25p. on contract news. Is this share in a topical sector and so likely to be popular I wonder. Shares originally 28p. when first issued. | rheiner
20/12/2007 19:15 | Interesting company if Optare MoU leads to something.... but pity about the % spread. | don muang
20/11/2007 13:12 | Market cap is £11m, which sort of implies that somehow the company is going to get £11m back! I don't think there are enough shares on the market to make it a safe short though, so it is a question of playing pass the parcel with the shares while the music plays to see who is holding the cash and who just has wrapping paper in their hands when the music stops. | crystalclear
19/11/2007 10:20 | some decent buys this morning..mkt has waken up to this announcement.. a quiet board too...nice and steady. | jailbird
19/11/2007 09:19 | this also bodes well for the technology too looks the mkt is waking up to this company worth holding ..these bloody move up on small volume. | jailbird
19/11/2007 07:53 | this bodes very well RNS Number:9585H Traction Technology PLC 19 November 2007 Traction Technology Plc (AIM: TRAC) Agreement with Optare to develop and market hybrid buses | jailbird
13/11/2007 15:41 | Quote "Reporting 2007 Traction Technology plc will publish its Annual Report for the year ending 31st May 2007 by 30th November 2007." 08/10/2007 22:21 | London taxis are designed by London Taxis International who have entered into a production agreement with China's largest independent car maker Geely. Christopher Ross sits on the board of directors at both Manganese Bronze (owners of London Taxis Int.) and Antonov, and Geely have taken out a licence to build Antonov transmissions. So the chances of Traction Technology's technology going into proper taxis in the next ten years is minimal in my opinion. Getrag, ZF, Aisin, Allison, GM Powertrain, Fuji Heavy, etc are all capable of building transmissions and they won't want to be cutting their profits by paying royalties and they are hostile to newcomers. | crystalclear
04/10/2007 21:56 | Use with taxis was an area being developed, maybe trial results or announcements covering this? Something afoot though. | buster and charlie
04/10/2007 10:27 | Judging by the share price rises lately, an update could be imminent. Good news could take us back up to 70p+. | buster and charlie
