begorrah88 why don't the other bloggers and yourself make an effort to go to next AGM. As yet I have not bought any shares if I wait a bit longer I may only have to 3p each. As the financial year end approaches I am sure they will issue an upbeat statement. Merry Christmas to all you disheartened shareholders.

begorrah88 I have decided to buy some shares so that I can voice my opinion at the next AGM.

Robert,

When you have these scroungers in your sights as well as the obvious questions - how they can justify BoD costs of £4,493,000 FOUR MILLION FOUR HUNDRED AND NINETY THREE THOUSAND POUNDS from 2010 to 2014, why it has taken them 15 years to come up with the ground breaking idea of advertising their product, when the BoD will all quit in shame for their lamentable performance etc, etc, etc, etc - would you please ask them the following questions?

How many tyre shredding machines have been sold?

How many secret ingredient detectors have they now sold?

How are USA sales & has the US distributor reordered after the initial order by the bankrupt real estate guy, now gone?

Of the numbered distributors they talk about in their results how many have ordered more than once & with what regularity?

5p charge on bags - absolutely killing use...Just can't see any merit, would actually consider it being a good short bet

Somerston remains my one ray of hope that things could be changed and, in particular, that Laurier and Deva could be abandoned at the trough. Somerston appear to have positioned themselves much better than previous investors to be able to make the fundamental management changes. What I don't understand is why they are so slow or reluctant to do the blindingly obvious. Does anyone know the people involved at Somerston? They don't seem at all like gullible amateurs although the way things are going they are going to lose their shirts like so many investors before them.

begorrah88 I have decided to buy some shares so that I can voice my opinion at the next AGM. Having been a director of a subsidiary company I knew then how the board ticked. Cutbacks should have started with the BoDs. Years 2010 to 2014 the board has rewarded themselves for their wonderful performance to the tune of £4,493,000 FOUR MILLION FOUR HUNDRED AND NINETY THREE THOUSAND POUNDS. Quite incredible. If they would not have milked the company for their own gains the company could have been in profit. Why do they not take £50k each per annum getting rewarded on results. The deputy chairman was paid £183k in 2014 whilst the Chairman was paid £36k. I wonder what the CEO of Somerston is paid?

Yet another poor update,

ML certainly can claim consistency because SYM consistently disappoints.

I suppose it never occurred to the grossly overpaid board to start some cutbacks and savings before committing to a new and unexpected need to market products.

Hey, why should they care? it is only shareholder investments.

Don't see too much of the rampers here anymore like totally bonkers - he never did apologise before he ran away.

Hounddog10 Wells Plastics manufacture their degradable master batches therefore having better control. The Sales manager is SET's ex Export Sales manager. Symphony have all made for them are in 3rd party hands plus as far as I know they have no IP.

In their 2014 accounts Wells Plastics made £0.4m EBITDA and are expecting £1.0m for 2015. To my knowledge it is a similar business to SYM but has a better cost structure especially re BoD remuneration.

At least in the right direction. Wonder how much more could be cut to fund marketing.

I wonder if this may at last mean reduced swill rations for the BoD trough. Presumably Somerston are getting fed up.

Neil I sold out at a loss which I am glad about, had a hung on I would have lost the investment. The BoD should be ashamed of themselves for treating the company as their own ATM. Somerston cannot be happy with their investment as now doubt the Hong Kong mob are. Nothing changes more B-ll s--t and Jam tomorrow scenario.

I never did buy any.
They sent me a sample pack of their bags 10 or so years ago but at the time it seemed that the world was not ready to pay the price.

It is certainly my belief that SYM claim their additive causes plastic to biodegrade in the sea, and I believe that even includes on the sea bed down to moderate depths. However, I suggest you email the company or perhaps look on their web site. They certainly used to have literature on there which described the product.

I was a shareholder from the initial flotation, but I sold out a couple of years ago, so I may be getting unreliable. I very much support the aim of making plastic biodegrade. I eventually decided that shareholders were not going to make money out of this company, but still keep an eye on the company, and hope biodegradable plastic does become the norm.

gnnmartin,

Thank you for your reply.

I should really have expressed myself better and asked ...

"Does this plastic degrade in the sea?"

... as if I understand it correctly, the biodegradability depends on oxygen using
microbes which may or may not be present in the sea {above or below}

piedro

Piedro, yes. It degrades in the presence of oxygen (I believe).

Not as fast as SYM investor's money does.

SYM is a lifestyle company for ML & the Board, both are perennial under performers & purveyors of jam tomorrow. Been hawking the same line for 15 years, going no where.
