Good news today as looks like we will get a new manager. Looks like SVG as an asset manager are now toast! I do not support a liquidation, but a new manager is a potentially good move and this is an attractive start point for someone to take on a portfolio.

Just a re-use by the authorities of a redundant ticker symbol. SVG was used to id Seven until they ceased to trade. When Scottish Value changed their name the authorities decided to change their ticker. Daft thing to do because you loose all related history (RNS, graphs etc.) & for what poipose? A ticker should be for life, after all it's only a friggin code. If it were a no. would they change that....nah.
regards,
GR

Johndee, this is really confusing, 3iii are showing as under the same thread, but I have had this happen before on that site.

SVM looks like an investment co in the same mould as fidelity etc, and it looks like they have taken over the svg epic? does this mean svg as we know it does not exist?

SVM (SVG) Belongs to SVM Global, see below SVM Global Fund
(previously known as Scottish Value Trust)

assurers before being Managing Director of Templeton International's

Profit from our investment trust stock picking skills

SVM Global Fund was launched in 1991 (as Scottish Value Trust) and aims to provide investors with long-term capital growth through actively managing a portfolio of investment trusts, hedge funds and other specialist funds. The companies target index is the FTSE World Index. Since launch it has been amongst the very best trusts in its sector.

Keep looking firmly ahead

Successful investing comes from accurately assessing future returns. This Trust generates profits from two key sources. Firstly, we look at the calibre of the investment manager responsible for the investment trusts it invests in, backing top quality managers with proven ability to produce performance ahead of their benchmarks. Secondly, we look for discounts that we believe are too large and have the clear potential to reduce in size, releasing an extra profit to the Trust.

Anybody know what is going on with SVG??

gdealsr4u;

Phoned Rod Venebles of Beaumont Cornish whose firm is acting on behalf of 7Group;
Informs me all is genuine; Buying into Airline rather a complicated business. Takes longer than anticipated therefore delaying trading on stock market.
I asked him if 7 Group could give out some literature to share holders and he said that he would advise them.
London Stock market not unduly concerned regarding 7 group suspension. The company has to correspond (as they are doing) otherwise they are removed from the market; Has anyone heard anything further.?

Well spotted the surgeon, I have just read our parent co tgr's thread...maybe I am getting old and forgetful, but someone mentioned a link to air malta..should dig out the literature from svg.

Must admit to getting a bit of shock with this, as I have shares in CFP who recently brokered the deal for the mereger of oakburn and tgr....(share price dropped, couldve just been an AM thing, inverted midas touch and all that..but I wonder if they assisting (cfp, that is) with the Airline stuff?

fingers crossed..all but given up on tgr and svg anyhow...

They paid off their loan with paper! So the paper holders must have been happy with the SVG spiel. And they are up today. I 'aint got any either.

This paul harvey guy did not mention how much svg bought bonapetite in the first instance.
I am pretty sure that the management buy out must have been in the plan from the beginning which will explain why its disposal has no significant positive effect on the share price.
This I believe is disgraceful.
