So you confirm my thinking - just Mr Market having a bad day for Strix compared to rest of the market... that is why I topped up.

If the overall market is headed down, most stock will go south. GAW, AVON, $APPS, VLG, the lot.

SPX is looking like 3200 is coming, but could easily rally into the elections from there. But by the same token 2500.

You don't have to place to your bets right now though.

Because prices fluctuate more than values.

Aim is down 2.3%, Strix down 8.72% at time of writing...
Any reason why Strix is down 6.5% more than market?

rik that can't be. Strix should only go one way, right?

Anyone know the reason for the price fall today? I have scanned around and cannot find any news - so topped up.

edit, that link asks you to subscribe. I got their via googling for "halopure disinfecting mist" which threw up a link to "harnessing the power of teamwork to tackle coronavirus" which is title of the article.

very interesting article in the FT . Provides more information on the disinfectant technology Strix have used on their own factory in China. Also talks about how China has returned to normal including the production of kettles for well known brands.

FarnesBarnes, the RNS announcing the acquisition of HaloSource on 8/3/19 said

"HaloSource has two primary patented technologies - a bromine based water treatment bead system proven to kill 99.99%+ of bacteria and viruses, and a composite filter material certified to remove heavy metals from water, with its main differentiator being its lead removal performance.

I'd like to know if the technology is patented. If so, then I'd agree with you, but the whole 500 million market, not just the premium end of the market.

And this is just 1 of 14 product releases in the next 12 months.

I'll be topping again up on weakness.

RNS: "The total addressable market is estimated at RMB 5 billion, with Strix focusing on the higher end, automated farms worth approximately RMB500 million which have been growing rapidly."

So the Chinese Yuan RMB500 million that Strix is to focus on is currently worth about £55 million (with overall market, including the smaller farms being worth about £500 million).

If it is relatively easy to implement within a farm, and the costs are fairly low, with competitive ongoing costs, then a good proportion of that £55 million could be for the taking.

The halopure beads will have a lifespan and need replacement compared to the alternative currently adopted of a ultra-filtration membrane, which no doubt will also need replacing.

With any membrane type filtration, flow rates will inevitably reduce through the useful life of the membrane. Whereas with the Halopure beads, that should not be the case.

The membrane cleans at one point, but the benefits are not maintained. Halopure maintains the benefit throughout the waters usage.

What long term consequences all of this bromine in the water may have though!

Interesting slide presentation on HaloPure at

I wonder if those slides provide any foresight as to future products that are to be launched this year?

Interesting that they aren't targeting established markets, such as those in mains water supply, building water systems (e.g. Legionella control), leisure centres, cruise liners etc, all of which have big and established competition. But there is potential to go into or licence their IP to companies in those sectors, which are big and growing in some cases. I like the strategy and it allows them to move into adjacencies in due course.

AS Trident says, no-one knows how big this market is since it doesn't yet exist in the sense that no-one else is selling this technology. Strix management have been supplying products in China for some time and will have good local intelligence. The RNS says
"The livestock farming industry in the PRC is clearly a considerable market opportunity in addition to the healthcare and dentistry industries. The technology is well positioned to respond to an anticipated policyin the PRC which will require regulated water for use in all livestock farms, hospitals and clinics."

Being first into a new market may bring uncertainty as to £value but it's far better than trying to break into an established market with strong competitors.

Well yeah of course, that was my point....the RNS today has started to show even clearer the potential for the filtration side. For a mere $1m or so they have used that tech to enter a substantial market, and with the promise of much more to come.Things looking very promising here. I have previously thought this a bit slow n steady but the new business verticals could really add some substantial value here.
