this is what i like about this stock, +18% on the day and minimal BB chatter, not very widely owned by the retail masses

This is one of a few Covid hit stocks that hasn't doubled yet from lows just on relief in anticipation of better days one year ahead.

The share price decline was already accelerating before the Covid story - and even after this past fortnight's gentle upkick, it shows no sign of getting back above the low that Covid took it down to. So where next?

i agree totally, one can only hope this is a thing of the past and the new major stakeholders, Tosca particularly, stand for none of this in future. At least management now have their own skin in the game too

I understand the maths and the point of saying that from here they don't have to still write it off - not to say there cannot be more cost to come....

But its the lack of accountability , not just here but loads of quoted companies.
If this was privately owned would the management be still in situ when they have lost such fortunes?
Because it's listed and the "owners" don't actively get involved - reminding the world that you already blew a fortune gets ignored !

Worse they can actually hint at we can't lose any money on this ..... because we lost it all already !

Taking the p*ss

They made reference to Stobart Air being written down to zero - As a Good thing !

- It all depends on your price point? market today implying this is already discounted in the price -

Im not sure if this is a surprise? Why would Aer Lingus renew a franchise agreement to a subsidiary of a parent company, knowing full well the parent company is in the process of selling the subsidiary?

Market appearing to clearly overlook this ...

You forgot to post this bit:'Warwick Brady, CEO of Stobart Group, said: "The Group remains in positive discussions with a number of interested parties and continues to target an exit from Stobart Air before the end of the current financial year."'

"Whilst a disappointing decision by Aer Lingus, we believe that"....
....we could find someone else interested in the White Elephant.......

"Stobart Group can exercise its right to an early break clause for the lease agreement of eight ATR aircraft in April 2023 at a cost to the Group of $21.2m (plus finance and maintenance costs)"

So they cannot sell it with an ongoing contract and they cannot get the planes out of the contract without further cost .....

and they think someone else may still want the planes ?

Tosca believe this is worth £1 a share if management enacts the proposals they have put through to the board. Stobart Air and Biomass sales are two key catalysts to getting there partially. Realising the inherent value in the airport is the next step.

Still way higher than these prices, approximately 3x if you completly account for the debt.

Don't expect much to happen until the Spring. I don't see them selling the biomass division until end 21, in order to let revenues recover. By then, they should be out of everything apart from Southend. Southend will eventually be sold too. Even with vaccines, this is still too risky for me. They need to Work on attractions g additional flights for the summer

Yeah, to be expected with a 50% rise. There's a long way to go before revenue returns so trader's will come and go.

Southend Airport valued at 700m not long ago. If they survive until spring this could easily be over 100p in a years time.

fenners,

I have, atrocious in some respects but as i said, there are core and non-core assets. It's quite evident where the bleed in the company comes from today and has come from in the past, Stobart air/Flybe. But that also overlooks the profitability and high barriers to entry of the energy business and secular growth story of the airport.

You have to give the management the benefit of doubt if you hold equity today, they are transitioning this company into a profitable one with one primary core asset, that being Southend airport. If they fail they will be out, Tosca and other shareholders will not allow them to plunge this business close to the abyss again. They've refinanced the company, fresh equity infusion, let them get on with it
